WWE’s Rhea Ripley Enters Royal Rumble as Champion with Saturday Night’s Main Event Win

On Saturday night, the Main Event offered three chances for Championship titles, and the Women’s World Championship match between Rhea Ripley and Nia Jax was an immediate highlight. From the beginning, Jax showed aggression, but Ripley matched it with equal determination. The fight also showcased who could successfully land their finishing move, as Jax tried to execute her Annihilator three times, yet it was Ripley who delivered the Riptide and secured the victory. As a result, Ripley will be one of the two Champions that the Royal Rumble winner can challenge, setting a clear path towards WrestleMania 41.

Instead of waiting for the bell to ring against Ripley, Jax immediately responded with a massive DDT and a cannonball off the ring’s edge, sending Jax crashing to the floor. However, Jax retaliated with a powerful headbutt that temporarily stunned Ripley. Then, Jax climbed to the top rope and executed a Samoan Drop, attempting a pin, but Ripley showed resilience by managing to kick out.

During the intermission, Ripley managed to keep up her pace, but despite heavy blows and powerful attacks, she couldn’t manage to knock Jax unconscious. Later, Ripley executed a massive counterattack into a Code Red, and Jax barely escaped by kicking out before the referee could count him out.

In response to Ripley’s Riptide maneuver, Jax retaliated with a Samoan Drop followed by a Leg Drop, but Ripley managed to kick out. Subsequently, Jax attempted the Annihilator, but Ripley intercepted and countered with a powerful slam. However, she didn’t secure the pin. Instead, Ripley went for a submission hold, but Jax swiftly evaded it before she could apply the hold. In the end, Jax delivered an impressive Uranage, sending Ripley flying off the ring.

In this encounter, Jax attempted to seize the Annihilator advantage, but Ripley interfered again, resulting in Jax falling to the ground. Ripley then soared high and executed a crossbody move, crushing Jax onto the floor. Regrettably for Ripley, Jax managed a massive counterattack in the ring, regaining control of the situation, which prompted her to go for the Annihilator once more. Miraculously, Ripley got back up and found the strength to subdue Jax, paving the way for Ripley to land the Riptide and defeat Jax definitively.

Currently, Ripley is the World Women’s Champion in the Rumble event. This implies that whoever emerges victorious from the Women’s Rumble has the option to challenge Ripley for her title or even opt to confront Tiffany Stratton instead. Therefore, we’ll need to observe not only who takes home the victory but also who the winner selects as their opponent at WrestleMania 41.
