WWE's Rhea Ripley Would "Absolutely Love" To Hold the Intercontinental Championship

As a die-hard wrestling fan who’s seen it all from the Attitude Era to today, I can confidently say that Rhea Ripley is the real deal! Her physicality and storylines harken back to the legendary Chyna, breaking barriers and paving the way for women in WWE.

In her seven-year tenure with WWE, Rhea Ripley has achieved a great deal and is often compared to the physicality and storylines of the legendary Chyna, who resembled one of the wonders of the world. At the recent WWE SummerSlam press event, Ripley discussed her ambition to compete for the Intercontinental Championship in the future, as she would be just the second woman to do so. During Chyna’s time with WWE in the 90s, she shattered boundaries by becoming the first (and only one since then) female Intercontinental Champion.

She concluded her remarkable career by holding the Intercontinental Championship title three times. To this day, WWE is revolutionizing women’s wrestling with additional titles, richer storylines, and main event matches at Premium Live Events. Ripley stands among those driving this change as she enjoys widespread admiration, both within and beyond the ring.

More recently, the previous Women’s World Champion recovered from injury to challenge her longstanding adversary Liv Morgan for the title. She believed she had the support of her Judgment Day partner Dominik Mysterio, but he unexpectedly switched allegiances and sided with Morgan, causing Ripley to lose not just the championship, but much more. Later that night, Judgment Day effectively disintegrated as Damian Priest was also deceived by his fellow faction member.

Does Rhea Ripley Want To Hold the Intercontinental Championship in WWE?

Sure!

Over the weekend, a fresh Intercontinental titleholder emerged following Sami Zayn’s defeat, marking the start of a new phase led by Bron Breakker. However, a shot at the championship must be postponed for now, as Ripley seems deeply invested in dealing with Morgan and Mysterio. In an interview during the SummerSlam press conference, Ripley expressed her desire to engage in a Hell in a Cell match with Morgan, a contest she hasn’t experienced yet.
