WWE’s Wes Lee and TNA’s Zachary Wentz Revisit NXT Release in Bitter Showdown

As a gamer who’s been following WWE for over two decades, I must say this rivalry between Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz is reminiscent of the classic tales of brotherhood turned bitter. It’s like watching Edge and Christian or The Hardy Boyz go at it, but with a modern twist.

About a few weeks back, I left everyone stunned when I turned my back on my TNA Rascalz mates, Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel, after we fell short in our bid for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Last week, though, it was me who made a comeback, taking Wentz down in the ring. Tonight’s episode of NXT saw us face-to-face, and let me tell you, there were no holds barred in the words exchanged between us.

Brothers and Adversaries

Wentz lamented that they had fallen prey to what so many other teams and factions have in the past, breaking up and turning on each other. Lee called Wentz naive and then Wentz asked Lee if he was really going to throw away the last nine years. Lee said, “I’m a bigger star than you. Now look, I want you to get this through your head. You and I are on different levels.” That’s when Wentz talked about what brought MSK’s initial run to a halt.

“Out of everyone, I was the most thrilled about your achievements, but unfortunately, I let you down. MSK was an exceptional tag team in NXT, and I was part of its downfall,” Wentz admitted. “However, I can acknowledge my errors, and through them all, you managed to transform into the main event superstar you aspired to be. Meanwhile, I learned and matured, grew into a man. For two years, I kept a photo of you in the ring, shedding tears, wondering what would happen next. But that image motivated me to climb out of that pit and rejoin NXT with my brother.”

Later on, Lee commented that if they had claimed the Tag Titles, the sense of nostalgia wouldn’t have endured for much longer. “For a few weeks, it would have been wonderful, but I would have recognized that we weren’t at the same level,” Lee said. Put simply, this isn’t 2022 anymore, you understand that, don’t you?

The Wrestler vs The Superstar

Wentz responded with, “You are incredibly empathetic among all people on Earth”. Later, he added, “It seemed like you were considering leaving NXT for the third time. What changed after your back surgery? Who provided for your meals when your spouse was working? Who accompanied you to physical therapy sessions. On camera, I couldn’t act as your tag team partner, but off-screen, I always considered you my brother.”

Lee predicted that the WWE Superstar would defeat the TNA wrestler at No Mercy, while Wentz asserted that the TNA wrestler would give the WWE Superstar a run for their money. Despite coming close to a physical altercation, they managed to keep their distance. The showdown between them is scheduled for No Mercy; check out the full lineup below.
