WWE's Wes Lee Brutally Attacks The Rascalz in Shocking Heel Turn at NXT Great American Bash

As a long-time wrestling enthusiast who’s seen my fair share of plot twists, I must say that this week’s Great American Bash was nothing short of thrilling! The NXT Tag Team Championship match between Nathan Frazer and Axiom versus MSK, with Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz, was a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

In the second week of WWE NXT’s Great American Bash, numerous significant Championship battles unfolded, culminating in the main event focusing on the NXT Tag Team Championships. The duo of Nathan Frazer and Axiom aimed to synchronize their strategies against the recently re-united MSK. Meanwhile, Wes Lee and TNA’s Zachary Wentz had Trey Miguel as their Rascalz teammate by their side. This match was action-packed from the get-go, with numerous close calls and near falls that hinted at new champions emerging. Despite a critical misunderstanding, Axiom and Frazer managed to defeat MSK; however, the plot thickened when Lee unexpectedly betrayed his comrades, delivering a brutal attack that left them unconscious as he embarked on his villainous transformation.

Better Keep Up

Initially, Lee and Axiom initiated the action, with Axiom attempting to seize the early advantage. Not long afterward, Frazer replaced Lee and managed to dodge a maneuver by Axiom before tripping Lee. However, Lee retaliated with a punch to Frazer’s face, momentarily halting the speedster. A swift kick to Frazer’s leg resulted in Wentz entering the fray and brutally cornering Frazer, but later, Frazer exacted revenge by leaping over the ropes. In response, Axiom also performed a similar move, contributing to the knockdown of the challengers.

In their rematch, Wentz and Axiom squared off again. Axiom maintained his composure, preventing Wentz from gaining any traction. Later on, Frazier entered the fray, honing in on Wentz’s legs and knees before attempting to immobilize him with a headlock. However, Wentz broke free, though he couldn’t quite reach Lee. A powerful superkick to Frazier’s face provided Wentz some respite.

In this wrestling match, Axiom and Lee were engaged, with Lee dominating the encounter. He managed to knock down Axiom not once, but twice. Following that, he used kicks and a dropkick aimed at Axiom’s back. Lee continued his aggressive streak by delivering a superkick to Axiom’s jaw and swiftly slamming him for a cover. However, Axiom showed resilience by managing to kick out. Wentz then entered the fray, attempting a powerful combination move, but Axiom cleverly caught Wentz’s leg and countered it. In a turn of events, Wentz found himself in dangerous territory on their top rope, only to be hit with a Spanish Fly by Axiom. This was followed by Frazer’s Frog Splash, but Lee just barely prevented them from securing the pin at the last possible moment.

In a turn of events, Frazer re-entered the ring, only to receive an unintentional superkick from Axiom. Lee retaliated with another kick, followed by Wentz delivering a powerful slam for a pin attempt, surprisingly Frazer managed to kick out just before the count of three. Lee executed another massive move and attempted a cover again, but Axiom suddenly appeared and disrupted the pin. Lee climbed up high, but Wentz took a hit to the face, sending him to the floor.

A Stunning Conclusion

In this match, Frazer positioned Lee at the top and performed a powerful slam. Afterwards, he prepared for a head kick, which was followed by a cover move. Remarkably, Lee managed to kick out. Frazer maintained Lee in a Golden Ratio position to secure the victory. Wentz attempted to intervene but couldn’t prevent the win. As a result, Frazer and Axiom retained their NXT Tag Team Championship titles.

Following the contest, Wentz and Trey Miguel offered a helping hand to Lee, giving him some encouragement while mentioning they wouldn’t need two years for another victory. Unexpectedly, Lee responded by hugging Wentz before unleashing a superkick on Miguel, leaving Wentz bewildered. Wentz demanded an explanation from Lee, who then retaliated with a powerful low blow to Wentz. Lee proceeded to assault them further at ringside, flinging Miguel over the barricade and slamming Wentz into the steel steps. The assault culminated with another knee strike from Lee, rendering both men unconscious as the crowd echoed their confusion with cries of “Why Wes?”

As a lifelong wrestling fan, I must say I was quite intrigued by Lee’s performance at that match and his heel turn. It’s always fascinating to see how wrestlers evolve their characters, and Lee has definitely taken it to another level.
