Wynonna Judd Opens Up About Life as a Grandma Amid Family Challenges

Wynonna Judd loves being a grandma who tells her family ’bout the good old days.

Instead of plugging in, the “Why Not Me” singer enjoys being disconnected when she spends time with her granddaughter Kaliyah, whom she has been looking after during her daughter Grace Kelley’s legal issues.

During her interview on “Today with Jenna & Friends” on January 30th, Wynonna mentioned that she doesn’t own a computer. She also shared that she seldom watches television except when it’s pre-arranged, as she is currently caring for her 2½-year-old granddaughter, spending time listening to her instead.

Wynonna added, “So, I don’t really do a lot of Instagram.”

However, despite being 60 years old, there’s an exception to be made – Kaliyah happens to be a massive admirer of Miss Rachel’s video content.

Wynonna playfully said she was close to losing her sanity. However, she admires the energy and creativity of the kids on YouTube. Yet, she confessed, “I simply can’t speak like they do. I wish I could be as expressive, but honestly, I just don’t know how.

Besides this, Wynonna limits her usage of screens. In her words, “We don’t use phones during meals.

Wynonna, daughter of the late country singer Naomi Judd, observed that her farm life is straightforward and delightful, something we could all use more of. She’s making efforts to adapt to a life away from the spotlight since she started touring at 17, which meant she didn’t have the chance to learn how to live a normal life outside of show business.

She added, “Food, family and fun is my goal.”

Kaliyah entered the world in March 2022, two weeks prior to Naomi taking her own life at the age of 76. It’s reported by The Daily Beast that Grace, Wynonna’s daughter, delivered the baby girl while on a temporary break from prison. She was incarcerated due to violating parole, a consequence stemming from an arrest in 2016.

Last April, Grace once more encountered legal trouble, as she was apprehended in Alabama on charges of indecent exposure. Subsequently, she was detained by the police for alleged attempts to solicit.

The initial charge against her for indecent exposure was later changed to public obscenity, and the charge related to soliciting prostitution was dismissed, according to court records reviewed by AL.com. Unfortunately, it appears that Grace does not have a lawyer of record who TopMob News could contact for comment on her behalf.

Despite Grace’s troubled past, Wynonna has been incredibly proud of her daughter’s resilience.

She declared on “The Pursuit! with John Rich” in February 2020 that her daughter is the most robust woman from our family’s lineage. She’s healthier than I was at 23 years old. The path she took to reach this state – one I wouldn’t recommend, though I also lived a sheltered life. I was traveling on a bus with my mother, making it challenging to find trouble.

Last April, Grace once more encountered legal troubles. She was apprehended in Alabama for an indecent exposure offense. Towards the end of the same month, she was detained by the police under accusations of attempting to solicit prostitution.

Initially, she faced charges for indecent exposure and soliciting prostitution, but the former was eventually lowered to public lewdness in court records, while the latter charge was dismissed. However, we couldn’t find a lawyer representing Grace who could provide comment on this matter by TopMob News. (AL.com was the source of the court records.)

In an appearance on “The Pursuit! with John Rich” in February 2020, she declared that her daughter is the most robust member of our family’s lineage among the Judd women. She’s more healthy than I was at 23 years old. While I can’t recommend her path to good health, it’s important to note that during my youth, I spent a considerable amount of time traveling with my mother, making it rather challenging to get into trouble.
