X-Men TTRPG Expansion Is Getting an Actual Play from Marvel and Glass Cannon

The Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game allows players to assume the roles of their beloved Marvel superheroes. Not long ago, Marvel introduced an expansion for this tabletop role-playing game – the X-Men Expansion – officially incorporating mutants into the Marvel TTRPG. This expansive addition brings numerous iconic X-Men characters such as Angel, Domino, Gambit, Warpath, and others onto the scene. To celebrate the excitement and turmoil of this new X-Men supplement, Marvel is collaborating with artists from The Glass Cannon network for a live-streamed X-Men actual play event. This special event promises three hours of hilarious improvisational roleplaying fun on Marvel’s YouTube channel tonight at 7 PM ET, March 21st.

The Glass Cannon Podcast actual play for the Marvel tabletop role-playing game stars well-known performers from Glass Cannon Network and Marvel Entertainment. In this episode, Troy Lavalee from the Glass Cannon Podcast will guide the story as Skid Maher, Joe O’Brien, Matthew Capodicasa, and Sydney Amanuel play iconic X-Men characters, alongside Nick Lowe of Marvel Entertainment. Expect them to demonstrate the new features of the Marvel TTRPG expansion with their signature blend of improv comedy, and be prepared for some unexpected events in this X-Men adventure.

Following the live broadcast on March 21st at 7 PM ET, viewers who can’t watch it live will have the opportunity to replay the event. Currently, we don’t have the details about the matchups, but the X-Men characters showcased tonight include Old Man Logan, Havok, Dazzler, Ice Man, Warlock, Professor X, and of course, Deadpool. The plot seems to be influenced by the first One-Shot from The Marvel Multiverse RPG, titled “Deadpool Role-Plays The Marvel Universe“. Given the Glass Cannon Network’s reputation, it promises to be an engaging introduction to Marvel’s tabletop role-playing game and its X-Men expansion.

If you’re unfamiliar with Glass Cannon Network or the Marvel Multiverse RPG, the last Glass Cannon actual play series, titled “The Giant-Sized Special,” was aired in February 2024. This series features the same cast as non-mutant Marvel characters and can be watched now on Marvel’s YouTube channel. It offers a glimpse into the fundamental rules of the Marvel Multiverse RPG, which was launched in June 2023. Although it doesn’t involve the X-Men, this play does have a mission to save Bruce Banner himself.

Every X-Men Multiverse RPG Expansion So Far

The Glass Cannon Network’s live stream of their Marvel role-playing game might feature the X-Men add-on, however, Marvel’s official tabletop RPG has been bursting with fresh content lately. In addition to the X-Men Expansion, Marvel recently launched a brand-new Spider-Verse Expansion on March 18th. This latest expansion introduces characters from various corners of the Spider-Verse, including a novel Symbiote mechanic.

Apart from the current X-Men Expansion and Spider-Verse Expansion, the creators of the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game have also unveiled a new Avengers Expansion. This upcoming addition to the tabletop RPG is set for release on September 17th, expanding the game with additional characters from the Avengers team. At this point, we don’t have all the details about what this latest expansion includes, but rest assured, fans eagerly awaiting it will get a Red Hulk character stat block soon.

Every new addition to the Marvel tabletop game brings not just fresh playable characters (both heroes and villains), but also introduces new rules, strategies, and maps to enhance your Marvel role-playing experience. Each supplement typically includes around 250-300 pages of additional content, expanding on what’s already in the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game: Core Rulebook. The main focus of tonight’s event will be demonstrating all the exciting features you’ll receive with the X-Men Expansion, but if you’re intrigued and want to explore more, you can pick up the Core Rulebook and both current expansions from your local game store or any retailer that sells RPG books. Additionally, the Marvel Multiverse RPG is compatible with several popular Virtual Tabletop platforms such as Demiplane and Roll20.
