It’s really exciting, isn’t it? For years, fans who watched Marvel movies in sequence have been disappointed by the absence of the X-Men in the shared universe. However, Disney’s purchase of Fox made this possible. Unfortunately, we haven’t witnessed the mutant team yet, but that will change when Doomsday premieres in theaters next year.
Here, we find an image showcasing both old and new X-Men members assembled for a team expected to feature in the upcoming Avengers movie. Notable veterans like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden are part of this lineup. Additionally, Channing Tatum’s Gambit from Deadpool & Wolverine, as well as Alan Cumming reprising his role as Nightcrawler since X-Men 2, can be seen in this group. The team is predominantly dressed in bright, comic-book-style costumes tailored to their respective characters.

On Disney+, you can stream Marvel Cinematic Universe and X-Men movies starting at just $9.99 per month with their ad-supported plan. For an ad-free experience, the monthly cost is $15.99 or save 16% by paying $159.99 annually in advance. Check out this deal now!
Since Disney acquired the rights to use X-Men characters, we’ve had brief appearances by some of them in different projects over the years. Patrick Stewart made a cameo in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” and Kelsey Grammer reappeared as Beast in the post-credits scene of “The Marvels.” It looks like Beast’s return could mark the beginning of the X-Men team joining “Avengers: Doomsday,” possibly traveling through different universes to fight the villainous Doctor Doom. However, the studio hasn’t revealed much about their plans yet.
In the storyline of “Doomsday”, the X-Men are among several superhero groups set to play a role in the unfolding events. Alongside them, you’ll find characters from the Avengers team, as well as the Thunderbolts (also known as the New Avengers) and the newly introduced Fantastic Four. With so many heroes involved, they will need to put aside their differences and collaborate to defeat Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Doom. This could be tricky given that two out of four teams come from a timeline different from the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, which might cause some friction among egos.
On December 18th, 2026, the secrets will be unveiled with the arrival of “Avengers: Doomsday” in cinemas. Before that, get ready for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” on July 25th, which is one of the movies set to release in 2025.
