Xbox and AMD announce partnership for multiple devices, including next-generation Xbox consoles

In simpler terms, Microsoft’s gaming division has teamed up with AMD for several years on creating chip technology that will be used in various devices they plan to release, including future versions of their Xbox game consoles.

Here is the full statement from Xbox president Sarah Bond on the partnership:

At Xbox, our goal is to let you enjoy the games that suit your taste, with companions of your choice, from any preferred location. To make this happen, we’re pouring resources into developing our future-generation hardware options, spanning consoles, handheld devices, personal computers, cloud services, and accessories.

I’m excited to announce that we have entered into a long-term strategic partnership with AMD, which involves collaborating on the design of silicon for various device ranges, encompassing our upcoming Xbox consoles, both in your home and portable devices.

In collaboration with AMD, we are pushing the boundaries of gaming hardware technology to introduce the upcoming wave of graphical innovations. This leap forward will offer unprecedented visual quality and immersive gameplay, enriched by artificial intelligence capabilities. Notably, this advancement will be backward compatible with your existing Xbox game library, ensuring a seamless integration of old and new gaming experiences.

We’re creating a versatile gaming platform that goes wherever you do, allowing you to play your favorite games on any device, anytime, anywhere. It’s designed to give you an Xbox-like experience without being confined to one store or specific device. To make this happen, we’re collaborating closely with the Windows team, aiming to establish Windows as the premier platform for gaming.

The upcoming version of Xbox will soon be unveiled, marking only the start of an exciting journey. We’re thrilled to reveal more about its future!
