Xbox FY25 Q3 gaming revenue up 5% year-over-year, driven by growth in Call of Duty, Minecraft, and Xbox Game Pass

On Wednesday, Microsoft disclosed its fiscal third-quarter financial data from the year 2024-2025, revealing a 5% increase in gaming earnings compared to the same period a year prior, which ended on March 31, 2025.

To put it simply, the company reported a 8% increase in the expansion of Xbox content and services compared to the previous year. This surge is primarily due to the success of their Call of Duty and Minecraft franchises, along with an uptick in the Xbox Game Pass subscriptions. On the other hand, hardware sales declined by 6% year-on-year.

In the last three months, we’ve seen the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This game has been selling consistently and is expected to bring in substantial income from additional in-game purchases.

During this past quarter, there was the debut of a significant Xbox exclusive game developed by Obsidian Entertainment, titled Avowed. This game is a role-playing adventure set within the fantasy world of Eora, which is the same universe as their Pillars of Eternity series.
