Xbox Game Pass Early August Games Include Crash Bandicoot, a Mafia Remaster, and More

As an avid Xbox Game Pass subscriber with countless hours spent traversing virtual worlds, I must admit that the lineup for August seems somewhat lean compared to previous months. However, the quality of the games being added is undeniably strong! The arrival of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is particularly exciting, as it signals a potential influx of Activision games into our beloved Game Pass library – something that has been sorely missed following Microsoft’s acquisition last year.

As a dedicated gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must admit that I was initially disappointed to hear about the modest lineup for Xbox Game Pass this August. With a busy schedule and limited time for gaming, I always look forward to new releases on the service to keep me entertained. However, upon further reflection, I realized that the quality of these games is actually quite impressive, making up for their lack in quantity.

  • August 7th- Creatures of Ava (Xbox Series X|S, PC, Cloud)
  • August 8th- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Console, PC, Cloud)
  • August 13th- Mafia: Definitive Edition (Console, PC, Cloud)

The release of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy suggests a positive trend for other games published by Activision. After Microsoft’s purchase of the company last year, there has been a slow rollout of Activision games on Game Pass. However, it appears that this trend is changing. Last month saw the addition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and soon Game Pass subscribers can expect to play Crash Bandicoot games as well. Rumors about the arrival of N. Sane Trilogy on Game Pass have been circulating for over a month now, and they also hint at more Activision games coming after. These rumors originated from leaker eXtas1s, who also predicted that Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 will be arriving “very soon.” Although neither game has been officially confirmed yet, it’s possible they could appear in the latter half of August or next month.

Beyond the three games already announced, we’ve received confirmation of at least one additional game set to launch in the latter half of August. Similar to “Creatures of Ava”, “Core Keeper” is a title releasing on day one this month. The game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Cloud starting from August 27th. However, it’s important to note that with new games joining the Xbox Game Pass, some existing ones will be saying goodbye. This month includes several significant departures, and you can find more details about them here.
