As a grizzled veteran of the gaming world, I’ve seen it all – from the humble beginnings of Pong to the immersive worlds of virtual reality. So when it comes to predicting the next big thing, my instincts are usually spot on. And with Xbox Game Pass games for August 2024, I’m feeling pretty confident about what we’re in store for.
As we approach August, Microsoft hasn’t been very forthcoming about the upcoming Xbox Game Pass games. In fact, there are hardly any new free games for August 2024 that have been announced so far.
Leakers, however, reckon they have it sussed, and so far they have been right on the money.
As someone who has been following Microsoft’s Game Pass service closely over the past few years, I have a feeling that August is going to be a fantastic month for this subscription-based gaming platform. Based on my analysis of the leaked list and the company’s recent moves in the gaming industry, it seems like they have really tightened up their game releases and curated an impressive lineup for Game Pass subscribers.
In July, there were numerous excellent releases such as Journey to the Savage Planet, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and Flintlock: Siege of Dawn, filling it with excitement.
We won’t decide if it competes with PlayStation Plus’s subscription services; that’s for you to judge.
But that’s quite enough from us. Onto the games!
Xbox Game Pass games: Confirmed new free titles for August 2024
So far, we only have one confirmed game coming to Xbox Game Pass:
- Mafia: Definitive Edition – 13th August
It appears that a well-known Game Pass leaker, eXtas1s, recently disclosed what seemed to be a comprehensive list. Among other titles, this alleged list included Mafia: Definitive Edition prior to its official unveiling. If accurate, it’s possible that we might soon see these games on the platform as well.
- Sopa: Tale of the Stolen Potato – 6th August
- Creatures of Ava – 7th August
- Crash N Sane Trilogy – 8th August
- Mafia: Definitive Edition – 13th August (confirmed)
- Wargroove 2 – 15th August
- Atlas Fallen – 22nd August
- Core Keeper – 27th August

On the 31st of July, it was verified that these three games would no longer be available on Xbox Game Pass.

What happened to Xbox Games with Gold?
On September 1st, 2023, the service for Xbox Live Gold was terminated. Subscribers were transitioned automatically to the revamped Xbox Game Pass Core tier due to an upgrade in pricing for Xbox Game Pass.
Instead of offering two free monthly games, this update provides access to approximately 30 game titles such as Halo 5: Guardians, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, and Forza Horizon 4, among others.
Core subscribers of Xbox Game Pass can continue enjoying online play, along with exclusive offers and savings.
Microsoft intends to refresh its Game Pass Core collection about twice or thrice annually. On December 6, 2023, they added Chivalry 2 and Totally Reliable Delivery Service to their service offering.
What other Xbox Game Pass games are coming up?
As we peer ahead, here’s a list of Xbox Game Pass titles that have been confirmed for future releases on the platform. However, specific release dates for many of them are yet to be disclosed.
