Xbox Game Pass Reveals Final September Releases, and Console Users Are Not Happy

As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I can’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment when it comes to this month’s Xbox Game Pass offerings. It seems like the console version of the service is getting the short straw once again, with only one game out of three being available on our beloved consoles.

As we’ve moved beyond mid-September, Xbox Game Pass has unveiled a fresh selection of games set to debut before the month ends. In this roundup, they’ve highlighted three new titles, which means a relatively quiet fortnight for gamers. Regrettably, this month has been lean in terms of offerings, and it appears console users are missing out; only one of the three games announced today will be playable on consoles, while all three will be accessible to PC gamers. Here’s what’s coming up:

  • September 19th- Wargroove 2 (Console, PC, Cloud)
  • September 20th- Frostpunk 2 (PC)
  • September 24th- Ara: History Untold (PC)

After today’s declaration, numerous Game Pass subscribers voiced their discontent on social platforms. Interestingly, the PC version of Game Pass is more affordable compared to its console counterpart, yet console users are receiving fewer games. This situation is further exacerbated by Xbox’s announcement of nine games set to depart from the service on September 30th, which includes popular titles such as Gotham Knights, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, and My Time at Portia. While there are always going to be months that offer more content, it’s hard to fault subscribers for feeling underwhelmed at the moment.

While console subscribers might be feeling a bit down today, the new PC Game Pass additions are pretty notable. Frostpunk 2 and Ara: History Untold are both day one releases on the service, which means subscribers get to play them the same day as everyone else. As for Wargroove 2, the game launched last year to strong critical praise, so at least the lone console option through the end of the month happens to be a good one.

It’s looking promising that console enthusiasts have plenty to anticipate in October. We’re certain that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on October 25th, and it will be a day-one release. This new Call of Duty title is one of Xbox’s major first-party games for the year, making it an exciting prospect for subscribers!
