Xbox Game Pass Reveals Games Leaving at the End of August

As a seasoned gamer with a heart full of nostalgia and pockets always ready for the next big gaming adventure, I find myself both excited and slightly disheartened by the recent announcements regarding Xbox Game Pass. Losing some of my beloved games like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Airborne Kingdom, and Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition feels akin to parting with old friends, but the 20% discount on these departing games softens the blow just enough.

On August 16th, some notable games were taken off Xbox Game Pass, such as “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre”, “Airborne Kingdom”, and “Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition”. Sadly, more titles are scheduled for removal this month, including “Atomic Heart”, “NBA 2K24”, and “Guilty Gear -Strive-“, which will be gone from the service by August 30th. However, Game Pass subscribers can still enjoy a 20% discount on these games when purchasing digitally, allowing them to continue playing without paying the full price.

Since Xbox has disclosed which games are set to depart at the end of this month, we can expect an update soon on the upcoming games joining Game Pass. At present, “Core Keeper”, a game scheduled for release on August 27th, is the only confirmed addition to the service this month. In the coming days, Xbox might unveil the complete list of games that will fill out the remainder of August, possibly even extending into the early days of September.

In August, there haven’t been any clear indications about what else might be coming, but it’s plausible that we could see more games from Activision Blizzard in their library. Just last month, the “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy” was added, which was hinted at before an official announcement by the leaker eXtas1s. The same leaker also suggested that “Spyro Reignited Trilogy” and “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2” would be joining Game Pass soon, although they didn’t provide a specific timeframe for this.

After August, Game Pass subscribers can anticipate no less than two significant first-party games in the following months. The highly anticipated “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” is set to debut on the service on October 25th. Additionally, we’re expecting “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” to make its appearance this year, although an exact release date has not been confirmed. However, both Xbox and developer MachineGames have assured us that it will be available before the end of 2024.
