Microsoft has disclosed an increase in the pricing for all Xbox Series X|S consoles, add-ons, and video games, starting today. Notably for PlayStation 5 users, the Xbox games that Microsoft transfers to Sony’s current-generation console will now retail at $80 from this point onward.
Previously transferred games such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Forza Horizon 5, and others will remain unchanged in terms of price increase. However, starting from the holiday season, Xbox games will be priced at $80. If you have a Game Pass subscription on PS5, this is the cost you’ll need to pay for Microsoft’s ported games. Interestingly, it was Nintendo who pioneered this trend with the upcoming Switch 2 launch title, Mario Kart World.
The prices for the Xbox Series X|S systems and related accessories are also rising. Specifically, the price of the Xbox Series S will increase by $80, while the Xbox Series X models will go up by $100. Consequently, the 2TB Xbox Series X model in Galaxy Black now costs $30 more than the upgraded and improved PS5 Pro.
Special edition controllers and the Xbox Wireless Headset are also now facing a $10 increase.
In simpler terms, it’s being said that Microsoft has followed Sony in increasing the price of their current-generation consoles. Just last month, the PlayStation 5 saw a price hike in the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. There are whispers of multiple Microsoft titles, such as the Halo and Gears of War collections, being released on PS5 in the upcoming months. However, it looks like you might have to shell out around $80 to enjoy those games on your PlayStation 5.
