The idea that negative attention doesn’t harm one’s reputation might not sit well with Microsoft, given their challenging week. The tech titan has been grappling with a series of issues: an unexpected surge in pricing for the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and their controllers, as well as the announcement that game prices will escalate later this year.

Xbox price increases
As an onlooker, I’ve noticed a hike in prices for the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and a series of Xbox controllers. Microsoft, in their recent announcement, has revealed an increase in the cost of hardware, with plans to incrementally raise the price of certain games later this year.
Apart from leaving their fans dissatisfied due to price hikes, Microsoft has inadvertently weakened its unique selling point. The cost of an Xbox Series S now surpasses that of a PS5 Slim Digital, when considering models with equivalent storage capacity.
It was noted that some Xbox Series X consoles bought a few years back are currently considered to have increased value, humorously referred to as investments or appreciating assets online.
Given that more Xbox exclusive games are appearing on other systems and the recent surge in prices for all Xbox consoles, it might be challenging to suggest purchasing an Xbox at this moment for anyone.
“Bing was not as bad as I thought it was”

According to a recent filing by the Department of Justice (DOJ), Google is alleged to employ monopolistic tactics to reinforce its superiority in the search market, subsequently impacting other business sectors. The accusation claims that Google unfairly limits the options available for both businesses and consumers, infringing upon their freedom to select from various service providers.
In the midst of Google’s court case, researchers have released results from a study that seem to support the arguments made by the Department of Justice.
In the research named “Sources of Market Power in Web Search: Evidence from a Field Experiment“, individuals were compensated to utilize Bing for a fortnight. Subsequently, they were offered an option, either to continue using Bing or revert back to Google.
As part of our recent study, approximately one-fifth of the participants consistently utilized Bing as their preferred search engine. Interestingly enough, we observed that a significant number of users tend to stick with their pre-selected search engines, an aspect that appears to be central in the ongoing Department of Justice case.
Microsoft employee mocks Windows 11

Recently, a Microsoft project manager faced backlash when he humorously compared Windows 11 to an out-of-space experience. On platform X, Merill Fernando posted a meme likening the switch from Windows 11 to macOS to traveling in space and coming back to Earth.
As one who appreciates the creative application of the Katy Perry meme, I found it somewhat unexpected to witness a Microsoft staff member express such public criticism towards Windows 11. However, I believe the subsequent online uproar regarding this post may have been exaggerated.
