As someone who has been following the gaming industry for quite some time now, I must say that the latest announcement from Microsoft and Activision about the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6-themed accessories is nothing short of exciting! The Xbox Series X console wrap, especially, caught my attention as it’s been a while since we saw a new game-themed wrap.
The truth lies, but your console and controllers don’t.
Microsoft and Activision unveiled a fresh selection of Xbox accessories on Wednesday through Xbox Wire, including an Xbox Series X cover featuring designs inspired by Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as well as customizable controller options for the Xbox Design Lab. You can get a closer look at each new item in the video below.
This new console wrap is available exclusively through the Microsoft Store for $55, and preorders are expected to arrive on Oct. 23, 2024, a couple of days ahead of the game’s launch. Meanwhile, the Xbox Design Lab options are available now for players to customize their Black Ops controller.
The first new wrap in a year
The brand new Xbox Series X cover featuring Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 design marks the first addition to the themed wraps collection in more than a year.
In 2023, when Bethesda Game Studios launched their sci-fi role-playing game, Starfield, they also introduced special Starfield-themed console covers to go along with the game release.
In a more straightforward manner, I was wishing for the wraps to be utilized more often, offering a wider variety to showcase past and future Xbox first-party games. However, it’s reassuring that they aren’t being phased out entirely, and we can look forward to at least one new wrap annually for the major Xbox flagship titles.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is planned for release on October 25, 2024. It will be accessible on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. For the first time in the series, it will be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on the same day of release, and can also be played through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
