Xbox Series X Console Error Is Breaking Games for Some Users

As a seasoned Xbox gamer with countless hours logged into my beloved console, I find myself once again entangled in an all-too-familiar dance with technical difficulties. The latest glitch, causing some games to display an erroneous “not connected to the Internet” message on both Xbox One and next-gen consoles, has left me and countless others in a state of frustration.

Users of Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X have been encountering a console issue lately, which has been causing some games to malfunction. Fortunately, Microsoft is cognizant of this problem and has already released a solution; however, it does not rectify the issue for all users. A multitude of Xbox gamers started reporting this glitch this week, with many attributing it to the installation of the latest system update. Whatever seems to be causing the problem, appears to do so sporadically. Regardless, the end result is that Xbox users are shown an error message when attempting to launch online games, claiming they’re not connected to the Internet, despite being connected.

Following reports of an issue from Xbox users through Reddit and various other platforms, Eden Marie, the engineering lead, shared on social media platform X that Xbox had released a new update intended to resolve this problem. As a result, Marie suggested Xbox users who were encountering the issue to navigate to settings, then system, then updates, so they could manually download and apply the update if it hadn’t been done automatically.

It’s yet unclear if this fully resolves the issue, but currently, it seems to function only for those not part of the Xbox Insider program. Regrettably, Xbox Insiders encountering this problem have no immediate solution, unless they are willing to go through some extra steps.

According to Maries, it might take a few days for insiders to receive the update, depending on their specific ring. If you want to install the update immediately, you can opt-out of the preview program within the Xbox Insider Hub and then start an update. This action will cause a factory reset, after which you’ll be updated and can rejoin your chosen Insider ring.

Marie’s recent communication indicates that this problem is still unresolved for Xbox Insiders. For now, they must use the method mentioned earlier to tackle the issue. However, we will keep you posted if there are any updates regarding the fix. For more news about Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, and other related topics, check out this link.
