Xbox Series X Drops Free DOOM: The Dark Ages Surprise and Fans Can’t Believe It

Fans of the Xbox Series X and those who own it have been pleasantly surprised with a complimentary download for an upcoming highly anticipated game from Xbox. The latest significant offering from Xbox is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which hails from Bethesda, and the next big Xbox title in development also comes from Bethesda. Similar to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, this Bethesda game will not be exclusive to Xbox consoles but will be accessible on PlayStation 5 (PS5) as well. The upcoming PS5 and Xbox release is DOOM: The Dark Ages. It’s important to note that while the new Xbox title will be available on the PS5 from its May 15 launch date, PS5 users do not have early access to a free bonus related to the game before its official debut.

Instead of receiving an early, complimentary access code for the upcoming Bethesda game DOOM: The Dark Ages, Xbox users are being offered a free dynamic background instead. This new design can be used to customize their Xbox Series X and S consoles, serving as a fun prelude to the game’s release later this month.

Similar to free backgrounds previously released for the Xbox Series consoles, this latest one is also free of charge. However, much like other Xbox Series X backgrounds launched during this generation, the dynamic aspect of this new background is quite limited. In fact, it appears more like a static image than a truly dynamic one. It’s puzzling as to why Microsoft persists in releasing dynamic backgrounds that lack significant dynamism, but each one released so far has shown this pattern.

Moreover, just like before, it’s unclear whether this backdrop is a free, long-term offering accessible to all Xbox users indefinitely or if it’s a time-limited promotion that will eventually end. However, all backgrounds released for the console so far have remained accessible, which leads one to believe that this may not be an exception to the trend. Given that Xbox owns DOOM, there seems to be no particular reason to anticipate otherwise.

Although there’s still potential for enhancements in the backdrop’s interactive aspect, it appears that Xbox enthusiasts in the previous post’s comments are content with the latest free offering.

1 – Option 1: “The comment above says, ‘Wow, that looks fantastic!’ Another Xbox enthusiast exclaims, ‘Jeez, this looks incredible!'”

2 – Option 2 (Less formal): “One person says, ‘Holy cow, that looks awesome!’ Another Xbox fan replies, ‘Whoa, I can’t even!’ Both comments express their amazement at the post.”

3 – Option 3 (Abbreviated): “The first comment: ‘Wowza, great lookin’ post!’ Second comment: ‘Dang, amazing!'”
