Xbox Teams Up With IHOP to Reveal New Console Variant, Themed Menu, and Rewards

As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I must admit, the gaming industry has come a long way from the days of Pong and Space Invaders. Today, it’s not just about the games themselves, but the unique experiences that accompany them. And boy, does Microsoft know how to create a buzz!

Over the past few years, Xbox has unveiled several unique console models. These range from collaborations with brands like Barbie and Wonka, to X-Men ’97, offering a variety of choices. However, one of the most unexpected might have surfaced today as part of a partnership between Microsoft and IHOP. The IHOP themed Xbox boasts a blue color scheme similar to the restaurant’s logo, with design elements that appear inspired by syrup. This is part of a promotion linked to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which will soon introduce its own themed menu.

The advertising campaign for “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” starts on November 18th, showcasing unique items such as the “Long-Lost Cookie Butter Milkshake” and “Explorer’s Caramel Apple Butter Hot Chocolate”. On the same day, Xbox will broadcast a live stream at 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time, unveiling special rewards that can be claimed through IHOP’s loyalty program. These exclusive perks, available to International Bank of Pancakes (IBP) members, include scanning and redeeming receipts for PanCoins. These coins can be traded in the Stack Market for various rewards, including a chance to enter a sweepstake for a custom Xbox console or a one-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Notably, this latter reward will enable newcomers to test out “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” when it launches on December 8th.

Despite some room for improvement in the console’s custom design, this promotion holds an intriguing perk: a limited series of collectible glasses, creatively designed by Xbox artist Matt Taylor. These glasses draw inspiration from retro restaurant promotions of the ’80s, like the Return of the Jedi at Burger King, and their artwork is simply stunning. The collection will include five glasses, four of which are inspired by individual Xbox games such as Halo, Sea of Thieves, Microsoft Flight Simulator, or Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The fifth glass will showcase elements from all four of these games.

In essence, this new promotion is somewhat uncommon yet not completely unexpected. Remember earlier in the year when IHOP teamed up with Sonic the Hedgehog for a promotional event? That collaboration brought about a unique menu and Stack Rewards linked to Sega’s franchise. These benefits ranged from DLC for Sonic Superstars, all the way to full downloads for games such as Sonic Frontiers. As we approach the Xbox Showcase next week, we can only speculate if this Xbox promotion will offer similar perks. Here’s hoping there are some exciting incentives on the horizon!
