Xbox’s Top 3 Best-Selling Games on PlayStation Store Revealed in April

Last month, some of the top-selling games on PlayStation were from Xbox. The gaming industry is undergoing significant shifts in how and where games are enjoyed. A decade back, you’d typically pay $60 for every new AAA game, but that’s not always the case nowadays. Services like Xbox Game Pass have made it easier to access games and play hit titles such as Oblivion Remastered, all without additional charges. Xbox has been a pioneer in altering the distribution model of games by promoting subscriptions, simultaneous releases on multiple platforms, including PC, and even cloud streaming technology.

In a move that has sparked some debate, Xbox is expanding its game library to include more titles on the PlayStation 5. This started with a few smaller, older games, but now it appears they are bringing some of their most popular games. For instance, Xbox recently made Forza Horizon 5 available on PlayStation 5, granting Sony access to two prominent racing series: Forza and their self-developed Gran Turismo lineup. There are expectations that Xbox will bring many other major franchises to PlayStation this year as well. Notably, Gears of War was recently announced for the PS5, validating earlier rumors about its release.

Xbox Tops PlayStation Store Charts

It appears that PlayStation is emerging as an attractive platform for gamers who enjoy a wide variety of content, given that Xbox has been confirmed as the leading publisher for most pre-purchased games on PlayStation. This trend is supported by recent data. In fact, PlayStation’s best-selling games for April 2025 in the US were all published by Xbox/Microsoft, with “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered,” “Minecraft,” and “Forza Horizon 5” taking the top three spots. In the EU, the rankings were similar but slightly rearranged, with “Forza Horizon 5” being the most popular followed by “Oblivion” and “Minecraft.

The game titled “Indiana Jones: The Great Circle” ranked as the 11th top-selling title on the PlayStation Store during April, with its PS5 release coinciding with “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” at position 7. It’s worth noting that all these games are published by Xbox, showcasing not only their extensive collection of franchises and studios but also the high-quality, widely accessible games they continue to produce.

As Xbox continues expanding its game library to the PS5, it’s increasingly likely that this trend will continue. It’s been whispered that Fable, set for a 2026 launch, will be a day-one PS5 title, and there are even rumors suggesting Halo, Xbox’s flagship franchise, may make its way to the PS5 as well. This move signifies that Xbox is extending its influence beyond its own hardware. While it’s uncertain if they will continue releasing exclusives, it’s clear that this multi-platform approach is financially advantageous for them.
