As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the arrival of Yakuza Kiwami on the Nintendo Switch has been a long-awaited blessing. After countless requests and pleas for this iconic franchise to make its way onto the portable console, it’s no wonder that it’s selling like hotcakes!
The Yakuza / Like a Dragon series eventually arrived on the Nintendo Switch after a long wait, and its debut on this platform was with Yakuza Kiwami. This game’s success is attributed to the persistent demand from fans, as evidenced by its strong sales figures according to developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
During a recent live broadcast (via My Nintendo News), studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama shared that “Yakuza Kiwami” is selling exceptionally well on the Nintendo Switch. In fact, the company’s internal projections for the game’s sales on the platform were greatly surpassed, leaving them far behind in reality.
“I think I looked at it a bit too conservatively,” he added.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been eagerly waiting for years to see Yakuza on Switch, so it’s no wonder that the franchise is thriving now that it’s finally here. The real question is how well the game continues to sell and whether this success will pave the way for more Yakuza/Like a Dragon games on Switch. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega can only hope that the initial sales numbers are an indication of things to come!
