MLB alum Brett Gardner and his family have suffered an immeasurable loss.
On March 23, it was announced by the former New York Yankees outfielder and his spouse Jessica Gardner that their son, Miller Gardner, had sadly passed away at the age of 14.
In a heartfelt message, I find myself compelled to share the tragic news: Our beloved youngest son, Miller, has departed from us at the tender age of 14. His departure came prematurely, as he fell sick during our recent family vacation, leaving us heartbroken and grappling with an overwhelming sense of loss.
The couple stated, “At this moment, we’re filled with numerous unanswered queries, yet we can confirm that he died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of March 21st, a Friday.
As a devoted admirer, I’d put it this way: Hunter Gardner, aged 16, considers Brett and Jessica Miller as the ones who brought forth his “cherished brother” and “adored son.
His radiant grin makes our lives incomprehensible without it,” they expressed. “He cherished sports like football, baseball, golf, and hobbies such as hunting and fishing. Every day was a celebration of life for him, filled with love for his family and friends.
Brett, having played for 14 years with the Yankees before retiring at the end of the 2021 season, expressed along with Jessica, “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has extended their support and encouragement during these challenging times. We firmly believe that our faith, loved ones, and companions will guide us as we cope with this unfathomable grief.
We express our sympathies to Miller’s fellow players and companions, along with other families who have experienced the untimely loss of a child. As we feel their sorrow, we kindly ask for privacy during this difficult time as we seek solace and recovery. Please respect our wishes.
At a South Carolina university, Miller played football, donning the No. 11 jersey – a number that held significance as it was the one his father wore while playing for the New York Yankees, according to ESPN’s report.
The Yankees issued a statement expressing their deep sorrow for the Gardners, saying, “We are deeply saddened and our hearts are heavy upon learning of Miller Gardner’s passing. Our words seem small and inadequate in expressing the immense grief we feel at this unbearable loss.
