Yellowjackets: Everything We Know About Season 3

Yellowjackets: Everything We Know About Season 3

As a seasoned gamer of both virtual and real-world survival games, I can hardly contain my excitement for the return of “Yellowjackets“! Having binge-watched seasons 1 and 2 multiple times on Netflix, I’ve become an avid fan of this gripping series. The wait for season 3 has felt like a never-ending wilderness survival mission itself, but finally, we have a confirmed return date – Valentine’s Day 2025!

Prepare yourself, as we’re nearing the moment to venture back into the wild again! The good news is that “Yellowjackets” is coming back for its highly anticipated third season earlier than many fans anticipated – and on a date they’ll adore. Mark your calendars for Friday, February 14, 2025, as that’s when you can catch up with the series again. With Season 2 having wrapped up over a year ago and the Season 3 production being delayed due to writers’ and actors’ strikes last year, fans have been eagerly awaiting its return since filming began in May. Although we now have a release date for the series, it’s still a bit of a wait until then. As more viewers jump on board thanks to the series recently becoming available on Netflix, here’s everything you need to know about “Yellowjackets” Season 3.

When is Yellowjackets Season 3 Arriving?

Yellowjackets will make its comeback on February 14, 2025, which is commonly known as Valentine’s Day. Co-creator Ashley Lyle had hinted earlier that an additional episode might be released before Season 3, but so far, this bonus episode hasn’t been aired yet. The script for it, however, has been praised by series star Sophie Nelisse who plays young Shauna, although she hasn’t watched the actual episode as of now.

She stated that she didn’t witness the event as everyone was away when it occurred and at home, hence she has no firsthand knowledge of what transpired. In other words, she’s only read the script, which she finds excellent and intriguing, but hasn’t seen the actual production. She regrets not having been invited to a private screening, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Season 3 Will Have Some New Cast Members

In the upcoming Season 3 of “Yellowjackets,” there will be some alterations to the cast. The end of Season 2 saw the deaths of two characters, Nat and police officer Kevyn Tan in the present day storyline, so it seems less likely that Juliette Lewis and Alex Wyndham will reappear as these characters. In the past timeline, both Javi and Crystal perished in the wilderness, which suggests we may not see much more of Luciano Leroux and Nuha Jes Izman either.

Regarding new members joining the cast, it’s been announced that Hilary Swank, known for her role in The Next Karate Kid, will be part of the Season 3 cast. Similarly, Joel McHale, famous for his roles in Community and Stargirl, has also joined the cast of Yellowjackets for its upcoming third season, but specifics about their characters have not been disclosed yet.

What Will Season 3 of Yellowjackets Be About?

For Season 3’s narrative, the previous season ended with a dramatic twist for both timelines. In terms of the environment, viewers last saw the survivors without their only refuge when the cabin they had been living in inexplicably caught fire, making their survival in the wilderness more challenging as it is still winter. Furthermore, Young Nat was chosen as the new leader following Lottie’s declaration that the wilderness no longer needed her guidance since everyone could now communicate with it.

Currently, things are quite busy with several issues at hand. Adult Nat met an unfortunate end after being accidentally injected with phenobarbital by Misty during the Queen of Hearts ritual, serving as a new sacrifice for the wilderness. In addition, Lottie was transported by EMTs in the season finale. On top of that, adult Van is battling terminal cancer and Taissa is experiencing unsettling sleepwalking episodes. To summarize, there’s a lot happening, and Christina Ricci, who portrays adult Misty, hinted that Season 3 will be intense.

According to Ricci, this upcoming season will be more astounding and unpredictable than the ones before. He described it as incredibly intense but also infused with humor. In summary, he believes it’s going to be very characteristic of Yellowjackets.

Currently, you can stream Season 1 of “Yellowjackets” on Netflix. Mark your calendars for February 14, 2025, when Season 3 of this popular series will air on Paramount+ (formerly Showtime).
