Yellowjackets Season 3 Adds Community Star Joel McHale

As a seasoned gamer of both the small and big screens, I must say I’m thrilled to witness the dynamic casting moves happening these days. The latest addition of Joel McHale to Showtime’s hit series Yellowjackets is a masterstroke that has left me eagerly anticipating the next installment.

Actor Joel McHale, best known from “Community” and “Starman,” has signed on to appear in Showtime’s popular series “Yellowjackets.” The second season of “Yellowjackets” concluded on Showtime last May, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the third season. However, due to industry strikes like WGA and SAG, a delay in production is common for prestige series. Apart from the planned “Community” movie, McHale will juggle his “Yellowjackets” role with his commitments on Fox’s “Animal Control,” which has been renewed for its third season. He also produces and hosts unscripted shows for Netflix and made a brief appearance in the third season of “The Bear.” Since wrapping up his time as Starman, McHale has remained active.

According to Variety, they were the ones who initially shared the news about McHale’s character, but specific details about his role are being kept under wraps for now. This Emmy-nominated series has been drawing in some prominent guest stars, in addition to its main cast consisting of Elaine Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Ella Purnell, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Sammi Hanratty, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Christina Ricci, and Juliette Lewis.

The drama “Yellowjackets” starts off in 1996, with a high school soccer team from New Jersey embarking on a journey to Seattle for a national tournament. During their flight over Canada, the plane meets an unfortunate accident and crashes far into the wilderness, leaving only a few survivors to fight for their lives for approximately nineteen months. The show follows their struggle for survival, as well as their present-day situations in the year 2021.

Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” has been an absolute hit according to Gary Levine, co-President of Entertainment at Showtime Networks Inc upon its Season 2 renewal. “The praise and viewer enthusiasm for our series is immense, with it featuring on numerous ‘Best of 2021’ lists, boasting a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and ever-growing viewership numbers,” said Levine. “It’s clear that there’s a strong demand for originality and boldness, and our talented showrunners Ashley, Bart, and Jonathan, along with their spot-on cast, have certainly delivered on that and more.”>

Apart from the third season, there’s also talk about an additional “special episode,” but specifics about it remain vague too.

Sophie Nélisse, star of Yellowjackets, shared with us in April that she hasn’t had the opportunity to watch the show yet. Since our cast wasn’t present during filming and were all away from set, she has no insider knowledge about what took place. Although she’s read the script, which she finds fantastic and exciting, she has not seen the actual production. It would have been wonderful if they had a private screening for us, but alas, that didn’t happen.
