Are you ready to be traumatized again? Because Yellowjackets Season 4 is officially confirmed!
After just over a month since the gripping finale of “Yellowjackets” Season 3 graced our screens, it’s with an uncontainable enthusiasm that I share the news: Season 4 of this captivating Showtime series is on its way! Needless to say, my anticipation has never been higher.
After a dramatic Season 3 ending, here’s what we have gathered so far about the upcoming season: Which characters might reappear? And how will Shauna’s situation unfold? Here are some insights.
What Is The Yellowjackets Season 4 Premiere Date?
As I’m penning this down in May 2025, there’s no firm release date yet for the fourth season of “Yellowjackets”, which isn’t too shocking given that it was recently renewed, as per Deadline. Quite intriguingly, there doesn’t seem to be a writers’ room assembled either. So, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to hear more about this exciting series. As a dedicated movie buff, I can hardly contain my excitement for the next chapter!
It’s not surprising that we won’t see Season 4 this year. After all, the entire third season aired in the 2025 TV schedule. Given Showtime’s usual pace with their shows, it would be quite unexpected for the Season 4 premiere to happen in the same year. I’d recommend waiting at least a couple of years for Season 4 to come out.
The Yellowjackets Season 4 Cast

Interestingly, the cast for the show Yellowjackets is intriguing due to the frequent demise of characters, which leaves us wishing for fewer departures. At this moment, it’s unclear which characters from Yellowjackets will reappear, but there are some we can reasonably anticipate seeing more of. Among these are:
- Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse as older and younger Shauna
- Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty as older and younger Misty
- Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown as older and younger Tai
- Courtney Eaton as younger Lottie
- Sophie Thatcher as younger Natalie
- Liv Hewson as younger Van
- Nia Sondaya as Akilah
- Warren Kole as Jeff
- Jenna Burgess as Melissa
- Sarah Desjardins as Callie
- Elijah Wood as Walter
- Ashley Sutton as Hanna
Here are the personalities we’ve grown particularly fond of throughout recent seasons, those who have managed to endure, and the young individuals still with us as they navigate their time within the forest.
Although there are many aspects to this cast, a character’s demise does not necessarily mean they won’t reappear. Ella Purnell serves as an excellent illustration of this concept, as she has recurrently played the character Jackie in numerous guest appearances since her leading role in Season 1, even after her character was declared dead.
It’s possible that some characters might reappear in unexpected ways, given the plot twists. The enigma surrounding the Pit Girl was solved as Mari, implying she is deceased and consumed, but it wouldn’t surprise me if her return was orchestrated somehow. Similarly, Adult Van has met her end, yet I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of her spirit lingering around Tai.
A significant event was the demise of Older Lottie, an occurrence that many of us seemed to foresee given how Lottie appeared destined for death from the start. However, after much speculation over who might portray adult Lottie in future seasons, her sudden death in the next season came as quite a surprise. There’s still hope we may see her again somehow.
Furthermore, Hilary Swank made a notable appearance in subsequent episodes of the series. It’s quite possible that she could reappear with a more substantial role in Season 4, potentially even transitioning into a recurring character or a main cast member.
What Is Yellowjackets Season 4 Going To Be About?

In the third season of “Yellowjackets,” a lot transpired across its ten episodes, although specific details about Season 4 are scarce. However, there are some indications as to what might unfold in the next installment. Here’s what we currently understand:
Season 4 Will Most Likely Show The Rescue Plotline – And Possibly Them Reintegrating Into Society
In Season 3, it’s clear that the characters remain in the wilderness, facing challenges and losses. However, it’s a given that they will eventually return to civilization, and it seems like Season 4 could be where we witness their re-entry—given that Natalie made contact with someone using a satellite phone, potentially setting up a rescue operation.
This means Season 4 might see the girls finally reintegrate into society.
The showrunners are eagerly anticipating this particular aspect, as they discussed in an April 2025 interview with Teen Vogue. Ashley Lyle highlighted their excitement about bringing the team back into reality, exploring how they’d cope with the aftermath of so much death.
From the very beginning, what’s captivated us about this series is the narrative of their struggle to readjust to life outside after being rescued. This is indeed compelling material! If granted the chance, we’ll eagerly dive deep into exploring this storyline.
I mean, yes, sign me the heck up; I want all the juicy stuff.
Shauna Will Be ‘Untethered’ By Her Family In Season 4
In addition to other significant elements, Season 3 featured Shauna’s struggle to maintain a semblance of normalcy amidst her dark human nature. Despite eventually revealing herself as the Antler Queen, a fact that highlights her questionable actions within the forest and among its inhabitants.
By the finale of Season 3, Callie finds herself alone as her daughter and husband (Josh) depart, leaving Shauna behind due to her self-destructive behavior. In an interview with Teen Vogue, showrunner Jonathan Lisco expresses his excitement about this development, stating that Shauna is now ‘unbound’ and free from the constraints of family, allowing her to pursue her desires unhindered.
It seems to me that since Shauna is no longer bound by family, responsibilities, or the domestic constraints she deliberately created at the start of the series – as a means to lead a ‘normal’ life – now that these factors have been exposed and have essentially dissolved, I am eager to explore what her next steps will be.
I’m actually lowkey scared about what she’ll do next…but I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.
Yellowjackets Will Most Likely Not End After Season 4

The latest update about Yellowjackets’ Season 4 might already be outdated, but it’s still worth noting that it probably won’t mark the final season.
Although Season 4’s renewal took some time, creators confirmed to Entertainment Weekly in 2023 that the series is planned for a five-season run. This means that even when Season 4 finally arrives, it won’t mark the end of the story for these characters.
I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Season 4 of Yellowjackets! When will it arrive? I’m finding it hard to be patient and wait any longer to learn its secrets!
