Yellowstone: 1923 confirms season 2 release date with first-look pics

As a seasoned movie buff with over three decades of binge-watching under my belt, I can confidently say that the news about 1923’s return is as refreshing as a cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer day. Having grown up with John Wayne’s rugged charm and Clint Eastwood’s stoic silence, I’ve developed a soft spot for Western dramas, and this prequel to the critically acclaimed Yellowstone series ticks all the right boxes.

As the fifth, possibly last, season of Yellowstone nears its conclusion, enthusiasts are buzzing with anticipation over a new prequel series titled 1923.

Following a hiatus of two years, we can now confirm that the second and last season of the show will premiere on Paramount Plus. The debut is scheduled for February 23rd, 2025, which is a Sunday.

The news about season 2 was revealed together with fresh star shots featuring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, along with a couple of short teaser previews.

The teasers see the Dutton ranch under attack, and the family gathering in order to protect it.

In the second season, a harsh winter introduces fresh obstacles and lingering matters for Jacob (Ford) and Cara (Mirren) at the Dutton ranch once again.

Facing tough circumstances and enemies trying to bring an end to the Dutton lineage, Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) sets off on a challenging voyage back home, desperately rushing to reach Montana before it’s too late to save his family.

Simultaneously, Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer) embarks on a perilous voyage across the Atlantic Ocean in search of Spencer, with the intention of restoring their affection.

Additionally, in the second season, we witness the comeback of notable actors such as Jerome Flynn, Darren Mann, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, Michelle Randolph, Sebastian Roché, and Timothy Dalton. Furthermore, Jennifer Carpenter makes her debut for this new series.

1923 was initially planned as a single season limited series, but unexpectedly received a renewal for more episodes. However, the creative team behind it has made it clear that this will be its final season.

Regardless of the uncertain fate of Yellowstone, it’s clear that the universe of shows associated with it is set to expand. A spin-off series titled ‘The Madison’ has already been announced, and there are reports suggesting additional shows are being developed.
