Luke Grimes is stepping back into Kayce Dutton’s boots.

Actor who played the son of John Dutton III, as portrayed by Kevin Costner on Yellowstone, will return to his character in the upcoming potential series called Y: Marshals, according to CBS’s announcement.

In a statement issued on May 7th, it was revealed that Dutton has joined an elite group of U.S. Marshals after leaving the Yellowstone Ranch. By merging his abilities as a cowboy and Navy SEAL, he aims to uphold justice in Montana. His role requires him to juggle family, duty, and the emotional strain that comes with being the final barrier against violence in the region.

The upcoming spin-off of the popular “Yellowstone” series is scheduled to debut on CBS during the 2025-26 midseason, airing every Sunday at 9 p.m. Both Grimes and franchise creator Taylor Sheridan are set to serve as executive producers, along with several others, including Spencer Hudnut who will also take on the role of showrunner.

In a post on Instagram on May 7th, Grimes stated that cowboys don’t typically say ‘goodbye’, instead they use the phrase ‘see you later’.
