Instead of being satisfied with just the A24 adaptation, renowned director Hideo Kojima shared with Vogue Japan that Death Stranding will also have an anime version.
While talking about the film, the Metal Gear man confirmed the existence of an anime as well.
Being a movie lover, he expressed his desire to explore the creative possibilities that films offer,” as observed by VGC.
I’m striving to bring Death Stranding to life exclusively on the big screen, a production that has the potential to earn accolades at prestigious film festivals such as Cannes and Venice. Interestingly, we’re also developing an animated version of it right now.
It’s not the first time Kojima has hinted at anime as a possibility for future Death Stranding narratives, but his recent comments make it seem like there might be a solid plan developing in this direction.
Since Sony has a broader strategic focus on anime, it’s likely they will play some role, but what’s intriguing is whether this project will introduce a fresh narrative or if it will be an adaptation from the original game.
Kojima Productions is fully committed to discovering fresh landscapes for their intellectual property. Since there’s already a novel adaptation of Death Stranding, one could speculate that a manga or comic book adaptation would round off the collection nicely.
