The animated sitcom “King of the Hill” was hugely popular during its run on Fox, spanning thirteen seasons and chronicling the everyday antics of Hank Hill, Peggy, Bobby, and their Texas-based companions. After wrapping up in 2010, there are plans for a revival on Hulu set in the future, focusing on an adult Bobby and the older characters. Although details about the revival are still unknown, fans have been revisiting the Fox series and uncovered a humorous cross-over where Bobby Hill interacts with the Invincible universe in a way that might have gone unnoticed by some initially.
As an avid fan, I’m thrilled to share that in the heart of King of The Hill’s twelfth season, during episode fifteen titled “Behind Closed Doors,” Peggy embarks on a mission to strengthen her family bonds following guidance from a family therapist. Although Mark Grayson doesn’t physically join the Hills, Bobby is seen engrossed in a comic book named “Unvincible,” featuring a character strikingly similar to Invincible’s lead character on its cover. With the King of The Hill reboot on the horizon, one can’t help but ponder if they could persuade Robert Kirkman and Amazon to bring about an authentic crossover event! You can catch a glimpse of this potential fusion in the YouTube video linked below.
King of The Hill’s Reboot: What We Know
Previously this year, it was reportedly disclosed online that the Hulu revival of the Hill family’s episode titles were leaked. These ten episodes will make up the inaugural season, despite the fact that the production team has previously hinted at more seasons to come in the future. The leaked episode titles could potentially offer a glimpse into what’s to follow, and you can view them below.
1. “Return of the King” – “The Return of the Monarch” or “King’s Resurgence”
2. “The Beer Story” – “The Tale of Brew” or “Ale’s Chronicle”
3. “Chore Money, Chore Problems” – “Chores and Cash Conundrum” or “Doing Duties for Dollars: The Struggle”
4. “Any Given Hill-Day” – “Every Ordinary Day on a Slope” or “Hillside’s Daily Routine”
5. “New Ref in Town” – “The Fresh Referee in the Neighborhood” or “Rookie Referee Arrives”
6. “Peggy’s Fadeout” – “Peggy’s Exit” or “Farewell, Peggy”
7. “Bobby Gets Grilled” – “Bobby Undergoes the Hot Interrogation” or “Roasted Bobby”
8. “No Hank Left Behind” – “Hank Not Abandoned” or “Everyone’s Friend Hank”
9. “A Sounder Investment” – “Investing in Better Acoustics” or “Making the Sound Worthwhile”
10. “Kahn-scious Uncoupling” – “Kahn’s Mindful Breakup” or “Kahn’s Separation with Awareness”
Last year, Pamela Adlon, the voice actress for Bobby Hill, shared insights about the upcoming revival of the show in an interview. She mentioned that although the passing of Johnny Bravestarr, the actor behind Dale’s voice, will be deeply felt, the series promises to offer a unique experience for fans. In her words, “It feels incredibly special as we have a fresh group of young writers penning the scripts, striking a balance between our beloved classic show and the new era. We are truly fortunate. It’s difficult because we lost Johnny Bravestarr, who had already recorded four episodes, and that loss is still raw. But he remains with us in spirit. There’s a sense of family here, and it feels incredibly good.
Adlon also shared that the production for season two of the reboot is underway, “We’re working on season two and Bobby is now 21. He runs a fusion restaurant in Dallas. It’s been an amazing experience, truly enjoyable. I think it’s been quite unexpected for Mike and Greg to imagine Bobby growing from 12 to 21, having relationships, and maturing into his own person. But isn’t that what happens with our children and our friends’ children? It’s a bit of a surprise when I see my friends’ kids all grown up, and I wonder, ‘Where did the time go?’ So, it’s just a little chaotic.
In regards to “Invincible”, its fourth season has been officially announced for next year by the comic’s creator Robert Kirkman. Though a specific release date hasn’t been disclosed yet, the author has hinted that the significant villain Thragg has been chosen for the role. Besides adapting comic stories for television, this upcoming season will also introduce an exclusive plotline not found in the Image comics.
