The revamped version of “Yooka-Laylee”, named “Yooka-Replaylee Remastered”, is not just enhancing the visuals from the 2017 original, but also altering numerous aspects. For instance, Rextro’s Arcade, initially a compilation of mini-games, has been transformed into a sequence of platforming stages titled “Rextro Bytes Back”. Here, players navigate Yooka and Laylee through various environments as the main characters.
Rextro operates with unique features, such as elongating his head to strike foes and cling to platforms for crossing chasms. He gathers coins, places keys onto specific panels to open paths, and leaps over questionable dangers. The game consists of eight stages, and conquering them awards medals that can be traded for Pagies.
It appears that “Yooka-Laylee” will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and potentially Nintendo platforms, which may imply a release on the upcoming Switch 2. However, it’s important to note that while the new Switch is expected this year with an official announcement on April 2nd, Playtonic Games has yet to disclose a specific release date for the remastered version of their game.
Keep an eye out for further updates, and don’t forget to review our earlier teaser showcasing revamped levels such as the Glittergaze Glacier.
