Anne Robinson is making her TV comeback in a new documentary, You Be the Judge: Crime & Punishment.
Tonight on Channel 5 (May 6th), a unique, standalone program is set to air, potentially sparking debate among viewers about whether British sentencing might be overly lenient due to an innovative social experiment.
Last year, a comparable experiment was broadcast on Channel 4, featuring a reenactment of a genuine murder case presented to two different groups of everyday citizens as jurors. The goal was to discover whether these groups would deliver the same verdict in this scenario.
In a twist from before, the control lies with you, the audience. To clarify, You Be the Judge: Crime and Punishment refers to a documentary series where you make decisions based on evidence presented. Keep reading for further details.
What is You Be the Judge: Crime & Punishment?

In this full-length movie, “You Decide” delves into the opinions of the general British population regarding the sentencing practices within their country.
In a socially intriguing study, participants are offered an opportunity to evaluate their judgments on convicted criminals side by side with actual judges, using reenactments of genuine sentencing proceedings as a comparison tool.
Audience members will have the opportunity to express their preferred sentence for a convicted criminal, prior to learning what penalty was actually imposed.
The judgments they make will be contrasted with those of four other groups participating in the process. These groups consist of retired judges, ex-convicts, retired law enforcement officers, and family members of crime victims.
The documentary intends to explore the factors, both increasing (aggravating) and decreasing (mitigating), that judges consider when deciding on a verdict or penalty.
