The developers at Sandfall Interactive, creators of the popular role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, are intending to adjust the power of its currently overpowered attack.
The studio encourages its players to find ways to outsmart the game, but they’ve expressed on social media that one of Maelle’s advanced abilities, Stendhal, is excessively potent in its present state.
Before launch, the team accidentally applied a significantly excessive damage increase, as stated in this post on X.
It’s so overpowered at the moment that it has “ended up overshadowing most other options”.
Consequently, Stendhal’s abilities will be scaled back, encouraging players to delve deeper into the unique talents and combinations of each character.
On May 9th, the upcoming modification (or “nerf”) will initially be available on Steam. Later, the adjustment (patch) for console versions will follow.
Following the adjustment, it will retain its powerful one-time effect, offering excellent opportunities for synergy – it’s now simply better aligned with other abilities, according to Sandfall.
It’s clear that there’s a split opinion among fans regarding this: some believe it’s fine to have a powerful move as a standout feature in a solo RPG, while others appreciate the developers’ pursuit of equilibrium and fairness.
Are you able to share your opinions regarding the topic at hand? Specifically, have you employed Maelle’s Stendhal attack strategy during Expedition 33? Feel free to express your thoughts and insights in the comment section below.
