This Easter weekend, the beloved series Pilgrimage by BBC Two resumes its broadcast, featuring another group of notable personalities undertaking a spiritual trek across the Austrian and Swiss Alps.

The assemblage encompasses Jay McGuiness, Daliso Chaponda, Harry Clark, Stef Reid, Helen Lederer, Nelufar Hedaya, and television host Jeff Brazier. This collective has shared personal insights about their religious path in an interview with TopMob magazine.

After the tragic death of Jade Goody, the mother of his two children, at the young age of 27 due to cervical cancer in 2009, Brazier found himself drawn back to spirituality and meditation, which has since become a significant aspect of his daily routine.

He shared, “In the beginning, my thoughts about God were that, if God truly exists, such events wouldn’t have befallen me.

When their mother passed away, turning to faith seemed impossible for the boys. Instead, I felt compelled to take care of them. I possessed an optimistic mindset. However, this determination served as a barrier, preventing me from fully experiencing my own emotions.

Daily meditation and ice baths aid Brazier in maintaining a clear mind, but before embarking on the journey, he had some concerns that his fellow travelers might perceive his dedication to personal growth, his bond with nature, and everything within it as merely an easy escape.

He also mentioned that everyone was open-minded towards various perspectives, as if to say, “You’re expressing your vulnerabilities.

Through participating in the series and embarking on the pilgrimage, Brazier gained both the opportunity and the necessary environment to discern the path he should take.

In the enchanting hamlet of Inzing, the seven famous travelers will embark on their adventure, traversing challenging ascents deep within the Alps over the course of three instalments – eventually making it to the snowline.

Equipped with a backpack filled with hiking essentials, the pilgrims will lodge at local bed-and-breakfasts and dormitories in convents and hostels during their 12-day journey.
