And Just Like That continues to be one of TV’s most bizarre offerings.
In the first episode of season 3, the creator and scriptwriter Michael Patrick King skillfully blends the bizarre (Miranda accidentally taking a vow of chastity), the unexpected (Charlotte’s English bulldog Richard Burton facing an identity crisis), and the utterly absurd (Carrie and Aidan sticking to their five-year plan).
Upon discovering that his 14-year-old son Wyatt, who disapproved of his new relationship, had gotten high on magic mushrooms and wrecked his truck into a tree while in New York, Aidan felt compelled to rush back to Virginia, fearing a potential unfortunate incident might occur.
However, when Carrie proposed visiting Aidan’s region as an alternative solution, Aidan disagreed by shaking his head.
“No, I’d only be thinking of you,” he said.
Aidan required undivided attention for his role as a parent, and it seemed that Carrie might hinder him from fully dedicating himself to that task.
They decided to go their separate ways, staying apart until Wyatt reaches his late teenage years, approximately five years from now. However, Carrie hinted to Seema that there might be a chance for them to meet again, if she behaves well.
But there were no secret rendezvous in the opening episode of season 3.
Aidan has lived in Virginia for about five years, whereas Carrie resides in a luxurious townhouse they purchased together in New York, providing a place for her and his sons to stay when needed. This living arrangement led to some poignantly sad and occasionally uncomfortable scenes on occasion.

The size and emptiness of her home seem more pronounced than ever, and it’s best not to dwell on an awkward phone call attempt that King struggled to turn into a comedy skit.
If that continues to be a regular feature of season 3, I’m tapping out.
Essentially, the issue at hand is that the five-year plan seems to make no sense and is negatively impacting our storyline.
It appears that Aidan doubted Wyatt would ever grow fond of Carrie earlier than expected, indicating a lack of belief not only in Wyatt’s potential for change, but also in Carrie’s ability to charm him if they had time to build a relationship together.
As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I must express my disappointment with the portrayal of Carrie’s character in the latest film adaptation. It seems to me that this narrative does a disservice to her resilience, having already weathered her share of emotional turmoil – from her tumultuous split with Big in Sex and the City, to experiencing the unimaginable sorrow of his death, a moment etched in our minds as she held him in his final moments. Though the series later rewrote their love story when Carrie began dating Aidan again, this revision might have only hastened her healing process.
Beyond this, her husband’s demise served as a stark reminder of life’s brevity. It can be snatched away unexpectedly, making one ponder: was it wise for Carrie to delay, delay, delay in the narrative, given that she wrote it?
Could such an action truly align with the character of Carrie, who remains deeply romantic at heart yet has grown and matured beyond her Vogue days, be something she would choose to do?
It’s clear from the trailer that Aidan makes trips to New York to see her, and she reciprocates by visiting him and his sons in Norfolk. However, since King mentioned that their relationship would play a significant role in Season 3, it seems improbable that they’ll quickly reach a resolution.
In the trailer, there seems to be a hint at a possible connection or rapport brewing between me and one of my neighbors. This could potentially add an exciting dynamic to the storyline.
Despite the fact that the predicament facing Carrie and Aidan differs from their past challenges, and importantly, because they are now mature and experienced, it still represents another round of turmoil for individuals who have already gone through similar experiences before.

It’s important to point out that King himself has stated that he doesn’t intend to overly distress his audience, even if he hasn’t revealed much about their upcoming endeavors.
Restoring Aidan’s presence and meticulously redesigning his relationship with Carrie, potentially setting them up as a couple, only to separate them once more, seems quite unkind and implausible. Previously, Stephen King stated that he didn’t introduce Aidan again just for him to fail.
But And Just Like That has proven itself to be at times cruel and unpredictable.
In the trailer, Carrie hints at being uncertain about something and might eventually conclude that she simply can’t hold back any longer.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but wonder if Carrie’s chemistry with her neighbor might blossom into something more significant. After all, he’s just next door, whereas Aidan lives over 360 miles away.
It would indeed be daring and invigorating, considering all the patience she’s shown towards multiple men throughout her life. It would bring joy to those who didn’t support Carrie and Aidan’s relationship initially and still find it hard to reconcile their feelings about it today.
In true And Just Like That style, my viewing experience was a rollercoaster ride filled with perplexing scenes and bewildering plot twists that left me scratching my head and raising my eyebrows in disbelief. Yet, despite the nonsensical moments, I found myself compelled to continue watching, eagerly anticipating what unexpected turns would unfold next.
