In the most recent airing of Coronation Street on Friday, 30th May 2025, the character portrayed by Ryan Thomas, named Jason Grimshaw, has returned to the show.
The character is coming back before Sue Cleaver’s (Eileen’s mum) departure from the ITV soap, which has been 25 years since he first appeared.
On the day of Julie Carp’s (Katy Cavanagh-Jupe) funeral, Eileen, her half-sister, passed a letter from Julie to her partner, Brian Packham (Peter Gunn).

Following Julie’s burial, the wake ensued at The Rovers, a venue where Brian inquired from Eileen about her involvement with the life insurance policy that Julie had procured.
Eileen promised that she had not known about this until after Julie’s death.
However, when traces of Eileen’s painkillers were discovered in Julie’s body, it wasn’t long before Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) started suspecting that Eileen might have been responsible for Julie’s death.
Meanwhile, the mourners played a game in Julie’s honour: ‘Carp Diem!’
In a spontaneous move, George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) popped the question to Eileen, leaving her momentarily speechless. And just as the situation seemed perfect for their happy union, Jason entered the room!
Eileen, along with Todd (Todd, the younger son) and other townspeople were excited to see Jason. But as George patiently awaited Eileen’s reaction, what do you suppose she might say in return?
Over the course of the day, Jason attracted interest from a particular woman, all the while sharing news about his experiences in Thailand.
What news has Jason brought?
Amidst the buzzing atmosphere of the local tavern, I, a movie enthusiast, found myself face-to-face with none other than Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank). Meanwhile, Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) seemed to be getting the chills.
Theo hastily stepped outdoors, with Todd close behind, discovering later that Noah had been part of the conversion therapy that Theo went through many years ago.
Todd is horrified, but what does he do next?
