In November 12, 2025, the Paramount+ original series “Landman” is set to resume for its second season, and they are now bringing on fresh faces to join stars like Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Demi Moore, and others who made it through Season 1. Whether you’re eagerly anticipating the next chapter or just tuning in for the first time, be aware that the hazardous jobs depicted in the oil fields of “Landman” don’t guarantee survival until the end of the season.
The disappearance of Monty Miller (played by Jon Hamm), a character who vanished suddenly, will be a key plot point moving forward. To prepare for Season 2, it’s recommended that you get familiar with the main characters in the series called Landman. This new version maintains the original meaning while using more straightforward and easy-to-understand language.
Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris
In the lead role for the film “Landman” is Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton, famous for movies like “Sling Blade” and “Bad Santa.” He portrays character Tommy Norris in this production. Tommy holds a key position in West Texas oil fields as a Landman, and his responsibilities extend beyond just that title. In fact, he serves as the Vice President of Operations at M-TEX, a fictional oil company. Apart from managing a team of diverse oil workers, Tommy navigates the complexities of his personal life, which includes dealing with his ex-wife and two children.
In Season 1, the frequently memorable character Tommy faces trouble when a package delivery linked to a Mexican drug cartel detonates on his land, leading to a complex legal mess and a dangerous retaliation scheme. Caught between the rough-and-tumble workers in his team and the wealthy elite exploiting them financially, Tommy seeks aid from his old companion Monty Miller. By the finale of Season 1, Tommy accrues more authority, making him an even more prominent target for the drug cartel.
Ali Larter as Angela Norris
Actress Ali Larter (known for “Final Destination” and “Varsity Blues”) takes on the role of Angela Norris, who is Tommy’s former spouse and the mother of their two kids. Angela is a determined and self-reliant woman who harbors hopes of reconciling with Tommy despite their marital issues in the past. Despite being separated, Angela maintains a substantial presence in Tommy’s day-to-day life and spends much of her time taking care of their children.
In times of family strife, Angela acts as a unifying force. She offers Tommy astute guidance regarding his work, particularly in helping him steer M-TEX Oil through its drug scandal PR predicament. Moreover, she attempts to curb her daughter’s defiant actions, who exhibits an even greater streak of rebellion and independence than her parents.
Jacob Lofland & Michelle Randolph as Cooper & Ainsley Norris
Actors Jacob Lofland (known from “The Son” and “Joker: Folie à deux”) and Michelle Randolph (starring in “1923” and “The Throwback”) portray siblings Cooper Norris and Ainsley Norris respectively. While working as a roustabout for one of his father’s oil crews, Cooper develops friendships with several tough workers, such as Boss (played by Mustafa Speaks), Armando (Michael Peña), Luis (Emilio Rivera), Manuel (J.R. Villerreal), Antonio (Octavio Rodriguez), and others. A fatal accident causes Cooper to reconsider his decisions.
Instead of Ainsley Norris, consider this: Ainsley Norris is a free-spirited individual whose defiant personality poses challenges for Tommy and Angela in their parenting role. Her tumultuous bond with high school quarterback Dakota exacerbates tensions, ultimately leading to a rift between her and Tommy that leaves Angela to mend the pieces and steer their daughter through the emotional aftermath.
Jon Hamm & Demi Moore as Monty & Cami Miller
In the series titled Landman, acting greats Jon Hamm (known for his roles in Mad Men and The Town) and Demi Moore (famous for her work in G.I. Jane and The Substance) portray the affluent duo, Monty and Cami Miller. As the head of M-TEX Oil, Monty is Tommy’s boss and longtime friend. In the first season, when Monty falls ill, the future of the company becomes uncertain. As Monty’s health deteriorates, Tommy assumes a more prominent role, leading to a tense confrontation with a drug cartel in Season 2.
Cami Miller is Monty’s devoted spouse who becomes more involved as his health worsens. Together with Tommy, they hatch a plan to defend against the drug cartel seeking revenge for their destroyed shipment. Additionally, Cami assists Tommy in navigating the legal complications arising from the bombing, which involves a complex case about causation that could implicate M-TEX. In Season 2 of Landman, viewers can anticipate seeing more of Moore.
Kayla Wallace as Rebecca Falcone
As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but share my excitement about the captivating role taken on by Kayla Wallace (of Heatwave and When Calls the Heart fame) in Landman. Here, she steps into the shoes of Rebecca Falcone, a tenacious causation litigator. After a disastrous explosion rocked M-TEX’s property, Rebecca is brought in to uncover the guilty party. In a small-town West Texas setting, where I, an outsider, am neither embraced nor aided by the locals, my pursuit of justice for M-TEX proves challenging. Yet, amidst this struggle, I find myself defending Tommy from legal predicaments, and our friendship blossoms in the process.
As Rebecca grows suspicious that Cooper may have illicit intentions regarding his job, she starts distancing herself from Tommy. However, since Tommy and Cami are working tirelessly to keep M-TEX functioning while thwarting a potential drug cartel attack, it’s crucial for them to preserve their good relationship with Rebecca, as any strain could lead to legal repercussions.
Mark Collie as Walt Joeberg
Country western artist Mark Collie (known for roles in Nashville and The Punisher) portrays Sheriff Walt Joeberg, a peacekeeper in West Texas who takes charge as the sole law enforcement officer in town. Determined to maintain order, he puts all his efforts into preventing the drug cartel from causing turmoil. He helps Tommy and Rebecca uncover the perpetrator behind an explosion on M-TEX property, with the intention of meting out justice accordingly.
Paulina Chavez as Ariana Medina
Paulina Chavez, known for ‘Fate: The Winx Saga’, portrays Ariana Medina in the movie ‘Landman’. In this film, Ariana is a character who tragically loses her husband Armando (Peña) due to an accidental oil field explosion. Armando was part of Cooper’s team of oil workers.
After his passing, Cooper develops a friendship with Ariana, as they both share their grief. Ariana and her uncles, Elvio (played by Alejandro Akara) and Luis (Rivera), who are part of the same oil crew as Cooper, grow close to him following the sad event of Armando’s death.
Landman Season 2 Casting Additions
At the moment, the most exciting news regarding “Landman” Season 2 involves the addition of renowned actor Sam Elliott to the cast. While details about his character remain undisclosed, it’s worth noting that he has previously worked with the show’s creators, Taylor Sheridan and David Alan Grier, in “1883”. Moreover, Elliott and Grier shared the screen in the movie “Tombstone” more than 30 years ago. Given their past creative collaboration and Elliott’s iconic cowboy image, his inclusion in “Landman” seems perfectly fitting.
More actors joining the cast for Landman Season 2 include John Lewis Puff, Raymond Sanchez Jr., Ernest Marsh, and John W. Heath, although specific character details are yet to be disclosed.
