It seems that a fresh bit of information is leading spectators to believe that Alan Ritchson won’t be playing Jack Reacher again in Season 4 of Reacher. Ritchson has taken on the role of the former military officer and solitary figure for three seasons on Amazon Prime Video, where each installment has tested Reacher’s limits. During his live-action journey, Reacher has found a steadfast and dependable ally in Frances Neagley, portrayed by Maria Sten.
In my latest review, I found myself immersed in the gripping third season of “Reacher.” Despite Jack Reacher’s initial reluctance to pull Neagley into his mission to bring down Xavier Queen, fate had a different plan. As it turned out, Neagley was thrust into the crosshairs when Quinn’s minions marked her as their target. With no choice but to act, she joined forces with her old friend Reacher in a bid to dismantle the relentless and menacing antagonist that “Reacher” Season 3 had crafted.
Following Quinn’s defeat in Season 3, excitement is building for two upcoming projects set within the Reacher universe on Amazon Prime Video: “Reacher” Season 4 and a spin-off series based on Neagley. As of now, there are no updates regarding their release dates (Neagley started filming in March 2025), but it appears that Ritchson will portray his Reacher character sooner than later.
On Instagram, Alan Ritchson posted exclusive backstage photos from the production of “Neagley,” featuring himself alongside Maria Sten, co-showrunners Nick Santora and M.J. Bassett, along with the author of the “Reacher” books, Lee Child.
Through a caption, Ritchson acknowledged the people in the picture and made it clear that he merely dropped by the Neagley set for a glimpse of Maria Sten at work.
I’m deeply grateful for the incredible individuals who stand beside me in my journey. True legends, every one of them. Recently, I dropped by the Neagley set to catch up with my extraordinary friend, Maria Sten, who is simply killing it!
From the picture, it appears highly likely that Lee Ritchson will reprise his role as Jack Reacher in the upcoming spin-off series titled Neagley, and it’s not just a casual set visit. The fact that he’s wearing his traditional minimalist costume – denim pants, simple shirt, and leather jacket – lends strong support to this hypothesis.
Back when I chatted with Forbes, Maria Sten and Alan Ritchson were a bit tight-lipped regarding Reacher’s presence in Neagley, but during our conversation, Ritchson hinted at it. He suggested that having Reacher as part of the storyline is logical and fits well within the narrative.
Alan Ritchson: “It could be logical, but we can’t guarantee it’s logical. It seems plausible in a realm of possibilities.
Frances Sten: “Yes, we can neither confirm nor deny such rumors.”
Alan Ritchson: “Like if he popped in for a couple of episodes. But it could happen.”
Initially unveiled in October 2024, the series titled “Neagley” follows the thrilling exploits of a private detective residing in Chicago, Illinois. It delves deeply into the intricate tapestry of her past and current life.
Joining Maria Sten from the Neagley series in the new spin-off are Greyston Holt portraying Detective Hudson Riley, Jasper Jones taking on the role of Keno, Adeline Rudolph playing Renee, Matthew Del Negro as Pierce Woodrow, and Damon Herriman bringing Lawrence Cole to life.
How Reacher Fits in the Neagley Spin-Off
In every major mission that Reacher has undertaken previously, Neagley has always been there. Moreover, she has demonstrated her trustworthiness by rescuing her superior and confidant on numerous occasions.
As a film enthusiast, I eagerly anticipate the unfolding plot of “Neagley,” though its details remain veiled. However, it seems entirely plausible that Jack Reacher, portrayed by Alan Ritchson, will make an appearance to support his long-standing friend in her current mission. With his unparalleled set of skills, Jack Reacher is undeniably the go-to man for any situation Neagley finds herself in within her series.
In the series Reacher, Neagley frequently shows up whenever Reacher requires information or assistance against the adversary he’s confronting, and this pattern may continue in the spin-off. If Reacher possesses significant information about the antagonist that Neagley is pursuing, he might extend his help straightaway, prompting him to travel to Chicago.
Although Reacher relies on Neagley to manage any danger, there’s a chance she could find herself in a difficult predicament, requiring a powerful partner to protect her from potential peril.
It’s plausible that the spin-off character, Reacher, might make an appearance through flashbacks of their military past or during breaks between seasons. This approach could allow the series to delve deeper into their friendship while still focusing on Neagley’s current predicament in the contemporary setting.
