This coming summer, we’ll see the return of a revamped version of the show, marking it as our fourteenth season. This updated edition features a notable time leap, and before its debut in August, fresh plot details have surfaced, giving us insights into what transpired with The Hills since the series finale.

The comeback of “King of the Hill” is set to air on Hulu starting August 4th, though an initial release has already taken place. The revival features the classic theme tune alongside modernized animations, showcasing a forward-looking sequence of events spanning years. This suggests that the Hill family had previously relocated before eventually returning home. The plot summary for the revival season unveils the reason behind their departure, as Hank secured a new job in Saudi Arabia.

After spending years working on a propane job in Saudi Arabia to save for their retirement, Hank and Peggy Hill return to their hometown of Arlen, Texas, where they aim to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill. Simultaneously, their son Bobby is thriving as a chef in Dallas, relishing his 20s alongside his former schoolmates Connie, Joseph, and Chane.

The Hills Moved From Arlen, Texas to Saudi Arabia

To “King of the Hill” viewers, it might come as a shock to learn that Hank quit Strickland Propane for a position in Saudi Arabia. After all, Hank was often portrayed as content with his routine life at Strickland Propane in Arlen and seemingly unwilling to change. However, the show may provide an explanation for Hank’s choice, possibly because the salary was extremely attractive or perhaps due to pressure from his questionable boss, Buck Strickland, who might have manipulated the situation for the benefit of Strickland Propane. Fans will find out more in due time.

Mike Judge is set to continue lending his voice to characters Hank Hill and Boomhauer, while Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Root, and Lauren Tom reprise their roles as Peggy, Bobby, Bill, and Connie respectively. Johnny Hardwick, who provided the voice for Dale in earlier episodes, had completed some work on the revival before his passing; however, Toby Huss, known for voicing Cotton Hill and Kahn in the original series, will now be taking over as Dale’s voice following Hardwick’s demise.

The TV show is overseen by creators Judge and Greg Daniels, who jointly developed the initial concept. Additionally, Saladin Patterson serves as showrunner, while Michael Rotenberg and Howard Klein from 3 Arts, and Dustin Davis from Bandera Entertainment are also executive producers.

The is set to debut on Hulu on Aug. 4, 2025.
