As a dedicated cinephile, eagerly awaiting the final episode of Guy Ritchie’s MobLand, I must confess that this Paramount Plus series has kept me hooked each week. Yet, it’s important to address a point often raised by critics regarding Pierce Brosnan‘s performance in the show.

Although numerous viewers have been captivated by the thrilling series, others have raised concerns about Pierce Brosnan’s portrayal of Conrad Harrigan in MobLand, noting that his accent was meant to be from Kerry but has been perceived differently by some.

Well, in an interview with TopMob magazine, Brosnan has responded to criticism of his accent.

Responding to questions about the difference in accents, Brosnan stated: “Conrad’s accent is extremely distinct from mine as my own is quite gentle.

In his own words, Brosnan shared the source of his unique accent: “I asked for a Kerry accent from my dialect coach, to which he provided a name. Upon researching this individual online, I found what I was looking for – it was indeed a Kerry accent. So, I dived right in and gave it my all.

Regarding Conrad, Brosnan expressed his feelings by saying: “I find him appealing. I adore him. I appreciate him, to be clear, he’s a psychopath.

Although the Top Boy showrunner Ronan Bennett hasn’t confirmed plans for a second season of MobLand, the debut episode set new records for Paramount Plus, amassing a staggering 2.2 million global viewers on its premiere day, making it the highest-watched series opener in the streamer’s history to date.

Although an official renewal hasn’t been announced yet, series lead Tom Hardy has shown enthusiasm about reprising his role for another season.

He informed The Hollywood Reporter that a comeback is indeed part of the strategy, yet it’s uncertain if the series will expand its reach globally.

He mentioned that organized crime has international aspects, some of which were hinted at in season 1. This includes the management of drugs, ammunition, weapons, people, and various other items that travel through Europe, as well as from Africa to South America, Pakistan, and across different goods in Europe.

In every European nation, there are influential families competing for power over the transportation and trade of certain commodities. However, it’s important to note that the regulation and global implications of such activities are complex matters.
