Back in the 2000s, you might recall a game character named Alien Hominid, first introduced as a Flash game on Newgrounds. This quirky run-and-gun action hero later made its way onto the PlayStation 2, and soon it’ll be playable again, this time on both PS5 and PS4 in an updated version called Alien Hominid HD.
The game will be available on Sony’s consoles starting from 10th June 2025, and it will debut alongside its latest sequel, Alien Hominid Invasion.
For those unfamiliar, the original game is a side-scroller with an arcade shooting style, somewhat reminiscent of a blend between Metal Slug and Cartoon Network’s aesthetic. As a small alien character, you fire up your weapons to fight off pursuing government agents.
In 2023, Alien Hominid Invasion was introduced with an innovative twist, transforming traditional action games into a roguelike format featuring expansive levels and multiple goals to accomplish. Check out the trailers for both versions available above.
