The highly praised initial dance scene in ‘Peacemaker‘ is undergoing a transformation for its second season. In a chat with Entertainment Weekly, series creator James Gunn unveiled that the iconic introduction will introduce an unanticipated new character alongside the fresh faces. Additionally, the revamped sequence will make its grand entrance at Comic-Con this July. The eye-catching opening in the first season of ‘Peacemaker’ played a significant role in the show’s virality after its debut. It showcased the main cast executing a synchronized robot dance set to Wig Wam’s “Do Ya Wanna Taste It.” The actors managed to keep their faces expressionless throughout, which, coupled with the energetic glam metal tune, brilliantly captured ‘Peacemaker’s unique blend of absurd humor, establishing the series’ tone.

Gunn announced an exclusive sneak peek into Eagly attempting his first dance, which is quite something. Despite not being particularly skilled at it, he makes an effort to participate in the dance routine towards the end. This time around, he has a new pose.”

Additionally, the opening sequence for Season 2 will showcase the entire new cast due to changes necessitated by the events of Season 1. As everyone was killed off, a fresh opening was required. The new cast includes Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury, Sol Rodriguez as Sasha Bordeaux, and Michael Rooker, who is playing a more significant role this season as Judomaster. Gunn decided to introduce a new dance sequence due to the addition of these new characters.

“This time, everyone viewed it from unique perspectives, considering how well the initial one was received by the audience,” Cena explained. “Since it forms a significant part of the series, we’re diving right in. Everyone did their best in season 1, but I believe people now appreciate its significance more. I hope that understanding is reflected in season 2.”

What to Expect When Peacemaker Season 2 Returns

In the upcoming second season of “Peacemaker”, the characters find themselves in a significantly altered world due to a time leap of several years, as confirmed by Gunn. This time gap is expected to have had a significant impact on the lives of Christopher Smith and the 11th Street Kids, especially considering Leota Adebayo’s (Danielle Brooks) revelation of Project Butterfly and Amanda Waller’s (Viola Davis) clandestine A.R.G.U.S. activities. The repercussions of this worldwide disclosure are already being felt in the wider DC Universe, as evidenced by the animated series “Creature Commandos”, where Waller grapples with maintaining her power. In Season 2 of “Peacemaker”, Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. takes over A.R.G.U.S., further progressing this narrative.

In the sequel of “Peacemaker,” Rick Flag Sr., who was killed by Peacemaker in “The Suicide Squad,” will transform into a formidable enemy. He’ll have institutional support and a deeply personal reason – his son’s death – to pursue Smith. This quest for vengeance could potentially put the entire team, including Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), John Economos (Steve Agee), and even Peacemaker himself, in danger. Moreover, the mental struggles of Peacemaker are expected to persist as Robert Patrick is slated to reprise his role as Auggie Smith, a father figure who was both deceased and notoriously racist.

In Season 2, we can anticipate the introduction of fresh characters. Rooker’s role will see him portray Red St. Wild, a character known as the world’s top eagle hunter and a direct adversary for Eagly. The cast will grow with Sol Rodríguez stepping into the shoes of Sasha Bordeaux and Tim Meadows joining as an A.R.G.U.S. agent. Lastly, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber (QUC) technology, a device crucial to both this series and the upcoming Superman film, is likely to play a significant role in the new season’s storyline, potentially leading Peacemaker into an unusual meeting with a version of himself from another realm.

Peacemaker Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, August 21st, on HBO Max.
