In a fresh wave of trailers, we see the return of Frieren, Fern, Stark, along with other supporting characters, sparking immense excitement among fans for the upcoming season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. The series promises captivating fight sequences, thought-provoking narratives, and meticulously crafted world development. What sets Frieren apart is its delightful character designs, a charm that even extends to the most detestable, demonic characters due to Tsukasa Abe’s original designs, expertly animated by Madhouse. The upcoming promo takes this cuteness to new heights, as our heroes have been given a chibi transformation!

2023 saw the highly praised debut of Season 1 of the anime titled “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End“. Critics and fans alike showered it with praise, and it even received a nomination for Anime of the Year at Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards. However, it was edged out by “Solo Leveling” for the top prize. Exciting news for fans is that Season 2 has been confirmed to be in production, and they’re buzzing with anticipation after the latest teaser trailer.

Frieren Gets a Chibi Redesign

Regarding the anime “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End“, there haven’t been any criticisms directed towards its animation or visuals. But that doesn’t stop us from valuing a fantastic redesign when it comes our way! The official X account (previously Twitter) of Frieren recently posted a fresh promotional material for the series, featuring updated designs for Frieren, Fern, Stark, and other characters from Season 1.

I’m absolutely thrilled to share that all our beloved characters from Frieren’s first season, which encompassed the “Beyond Journey’s End,” “Aura the Guillotine,” “Travels to Äußerst,” and “First-Class Mage Exam” arcs, have been beautifully reimagined in adorable chibi sketches! These delightful caricatures, officially referred to as the “deformed lineup,” are a charming tradition in anime, offering a fresh perspective on our favorite characters by capturing their essence in a playful and endearing way.

Besides Frieren, Fern, Stark, and Himmel, who make up the Hero’s party, another set of sketches also features characters from the “First-Class Mage Exam” storyline. These include Übel, Denken, Richter, Land, and Sense.

I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about the anime “Funeral Rite Frirene”! A new character from the “First-Class Magic User Exam Arc” has joined the official character lineup. Here are the names of the newly added characters: Viabel, Kanne, Lavine, Zeerie, Zenze, Lant, Yubeel, Denken, Raofen, and Rihther. Let’s keep an eye on Frirene as we enter its second season in January 2026! #Frirene #frieren #Frirene_Season2_Episode26

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 Is in the Works

The exciting journey towards Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has commenced! After wrapping up the “First-Class Mage Exam” storyline in Season 1, fans are eager to embark once again on Frieren’s adventure alongside Fern and Stark as they head North. The show was swiftly renewed for a second season right after Season 1 finished airing in 2024, and now we have even more reason to celebrate! Just recently, the release window for Season 2 has been unveiled, and it’s closer than anyone could have anticipated.

As an observer in March 2025, I’ve learned that the official account for the show, X, has announced that Season 2 of “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” will start airing in January 2026. However, they haven’t given a specific release date yet, and it might not be until the Fall season. So far, fans like me have only seen a few posters and promotional art. With about six months left before the show comes back, we’re probably still quite a ways from seeing the first full trailer.
