As I gaze upon these vibrant images of individuals from all walks of life, each one tells a unique story that resonates deeply within me, a seasoned observer of human experiences.
During the 2024 Emmys, when the cameras were focused on Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, it was always just a couple in the building.
On the evening of September 15th, Selena – who was nominated as Best Actress in a Comedy Series for ‘Only Murders in the Building’ (and previously recognized as a producer for Best Comedy Series each season of the Hulu series), chose to attend with Blanco by her side.
In a shimmering black halter dress by Ralph Lauren, Selena didn’t take photos with her boyfriend (note: not yet fiancé), so their appearance on the red carpet together wasn’t their official debut as a couple. During a brief instant that might have gone unnoticed unless one was fully focused on the audience, Benny seemed to be solely attentive towards her between award presentations.
During some of the consistently funny banter between Emmys hosts Dan Levy and Eugene Levy, Benny seemed to be appreciating the act and often glanced back at Selena, who also appeared amused – maybe to check if she was enjoying herself too, but possibly just to catch a glimpse of her smile.
Additionally, Benny casually placed his hand on his girlfriend’s knee as the camera shifted its focus towards them.
And here we thought nothing could top Valentine’s Day, when Benny went all out.
Apart from reserving a theater for a repeat viewing of the beloved film “Almost Famous”, he also prepared a delightful meal with a vintage flair.
In a conversation with Howard Stern last May, he shared that he prepared fried pickles using his deep fryer and added everything else for her. He also mentioned getting her favorite items from Taco Bell like Hot Cheetos, and since she enjoys movie theater nachos, he even brought along a nacho machine.
