In the realm of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, I stumbled upon an intriguing side quest nestled within the heart of Anvil, a bustling city in the western expanse of Cyrodiil. A band of cunning female thieves have been targeting naive men, leading them to the town’s outskirts and making off with all their prized possessions.
In local slang, these criminals are known as ‘The Sirens,’ named after mythical creatures who lured sailors with enchanting music and false promises of pleasure. The protagonist is assigned to probe into the activities of this gang and recover a precious ring that was swiped during a recent heist.
How to Start The Siren’s Deception
You can begin the Siren’s Deception side quest in one of two ways: either by overhearing a tale about ‘Gogan’ from the residents of Anvil, or by approaching Maelona directly, who is Gogan’s wife.
- Fast travel to Anvil and head to the western edge of town.
- Head to the western edge of town and look for the building called ‘Gogan’s House,’ right next to Quill-Weave’s House.
- Enter Gogan’s house and talk to Maelona on the upper floor.
- She will inform you about her husband having lost a precious family heirloom ring that belonged to her mother to a gang of female thieves, commonly referred to as the Sirens. The Sirens are notorious for luring unsuspecting men to a cottage outside of town and robbing them blind. Gogan has been their most recent victim, losing Maelona’s Ring in the process.
- Talk to Gogan to discover the details about the robbery.
- Gogan and Maelona’s story will reveal that the Sirens look for new victims in The Flowing Bowl Inn, a tavern just outside of Anvil on the waterfront.
If Gogan’s house is locked, wait till 9 AM and try again.
The Siren’s Deception Quest Walkthrough (Step-by-Step)
Following the data collection from Gogan, our subsequent move involves seeking hints about the Sirens at The Flowing Bowl Inn.
- Use the Anvil Dock Gate right next to Gogan’s house to exit Anvil.
- Turn left, and you’ll immediately see The Flowing Bowl Inn. It’s the first building on the docks.
- Enter the inn, walk up to the counter, and wait.
- Two women—Signy Home-Wrecker and Faustina Cartia—will approach you on their own and initiate a conversation.
- If you’re a man, they will invite you out to a farmhouse outside of town for a bit of fun.
- If you’re a woman, they will invite you to join the Sirens gang at the same farmhouse outside of town.
- Follow the quest marker and head to Gweden Farm, southeast of Anvil.
- Wait till 11 PM (Evening) and enter Gweden Farm.
- If you’re a man, you will be asked to take off your clothes and your gear to get ‘ready.’
- If you’re a woman, you will be offered a chance to join the Sirens gang.
- Either way, the only option is to refuse their offer, triggering combat.
- In addition to Signy and Faustina, there will be a Khajiit Siren named Tsarrina there as well. Defeat all three Sirens.
- Upon their death, the door to the farmhouse will open, and Maelona and Gogan will enter the house, explaining that they are actually members of the City Guard who have been hunting the Siren gang and needed you to be bait in the process.
- You will receive the promised Gold reward for the quest, and The Siren’s Deception will be marked as complete.

The stolen items in the Gweden Basement cannot be returned to the men they were stolen from.
