You Won’t Believe What Marvel Just Did to the Predator Franchise

In the action-packed world of the Predator franchise, which I’ve been a fan of since 1987’s debut, my character Dutch famously said, “If it bleeds, we can kill it.” This series has transformed various settings like Central American jungles, modern-day Los Angeles, and even the Comanche Nation in 1719 into Predator hunting grounds. Now, these deadly hunters are back in Marvel’s “Predator: Black, White & Blood,” a four-issue comic that traverses the timeline of the Predator universe.

In a fresh installment of Marvel’s intense black-and-red anthology series dedicated to the Predator universe, the upcoming comic book introduces diverse Yautja characters and settings that span from the Australian wilderness to medieval eras. The inaugural issue of this gory tale is scheduled for release on May 21, preceding the two upcoming Predator films due out in late 2025.

20th Century Studios’ imprint, responsible for the prequel series ‘Alien: Romulus’ and ‘Alien: Paradiso’, is gathering a prestigious lineup of renowned creators for its debut issue. This talented group includes Joe Kelly (famous for his work on ‘Amazing Spider-Man’), Álvaro López (‘Beware the Planet of the Apes’), Sarah Gailey (‘White Widow’), Fran Galán (‘Carnage’), and Eliot Rahal (‘Bleed Them Dry’) along with Brian Level (‘Star Wars: Vader — Dark Visions’).

According to Marvel, Kelly and López’s “unexpectedly intense reimagining of Predator” centers around a young Yautja seeking to make a name for himself in the Australian outback. However, his hunt takes an unexpected turn when he encounters a group of convicts from a penal colony, causing a chain of events that alters everyone’s lives and offers readers an unprecedented exploration through the Predator universe.

In this comic book, named “Predator: Black, White & Blood #1″, Rahal introduces a fresh take on Arthurian legend by combining it with the terrifying technology of Predator and classic elements of sword and sorcery. The story tests the honor code of Gailey and Galán as the Yautja (Predator) infiltrates an international weapons conference using advanced technology. This comic book features cover art by Simon Di Meo, who has previously worked on DC’s “Batman and Robin“, along with variant covers by Mahmud Asrar (Psylocke) and Paolo Villanelli (Black Widow & Hawkeye).

The newest addition to the grisly anthology series is titled “Predator: Black, White & Blood“. This series has seen multiple runs featuring characters like Carnage, Deadpool, Wolverine, Moon Knight, Marvel Zombies, and the dark-suited Spider-Man. It also includes characters from former Fox properties such as Star Wars (Darth Vader – Black, White & Red and Darth Maul – Black, White & Red) and Alien (Alien: Black, White & Blood). Following the tradition of “Alien vs. Predator“, Marvel has matched up the Yautja against their superheroes in crossover series including Wolverine, Black Panther, and Spider-Man (available in April).

Predator: Black, White & Blood #1 hits stands May 21 from Marvel Comics.
