You Won’t Believe What Nintendo Just Announced for the Switch 2!

Based on this morning’s revelation about the Nintendo Switch 2, a forthcoming Nintendo Direct has been declared by the company. On April 2nd, we are likely to witness a Nintendo Direct centered around the new device, though no specific timeframe has been set as of now. Likely, this will be the occasion for Nintendo to disclose numerous details about the console, such as its release lineup. This morning’s trailer for the console showcased a brand-new Mario Kart game, which may serve as the flagship launch title. At present, we don’t have much more information, but it’s plausible that third-party publishers could start revealing their own announcements ahead of April.

As of now, Nintendo hasn’t announced a specific launch date for the Switch 2. However, based on recent speculation, it’s expected to hit the market in the early part of 2025. While some fans were hoping for a March release, the upcoming Nintendo Direct event in April, May, or June suggests that a spring or summer debut is more likely. It’s also possible that Nintendo might delay the release until the holiday season. We can only guess at this point, but we should receive additional information in the coming months.

The upcoming April Nintendo Direct is set to give Nintendo a significant platform to showcase the future direction of their company. Over the past year and a half, many of Nintendo’s published games have been remakes or smaller titles developed by external studios. Although Nintendo has contributed to games such as “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” and “Mario & Luigi: Brothership,” the primary development for these games was handled by third-party companies like Grezzo and Acquire. However, it’s believed that Nintendo’s internal studios have been busy creating games for the Switch 2, so we might witness some major announcements of upcoming games in April.

As a dedicated Nintendo gamer, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming Nintendo Direct! It’s been five long years since I started my island life in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and I can’t help but wonder if we might catch a glimpse of a new installment. Splatoon’s popularity, especially in Japan, makes me believe that another splash-tastic game could be on the horizon too. While Mario Kart is undoubtedly the star at launch, I’m hopeful for a fresh 3D Mario adventure within this first year, considering Super Mario Odyssey was released way back in 2017.
