In the Marvel Universe, there are numerous super soldiers, and the most peculiar one is set to clash with Storm (Ororo Munroe). Known as both an X-Man and an Avenger, Storm splits her time assisting both groups while also serving as Earth’s Champion, which has attracted the notice of certain celestial beings. Following her demise in Latveria, Storm was revived as the Herald of Eternity, representing the universe itself. Introducing the Eternal Storm! So far, we haven’t witnessed all the consequences of these changes since Storm’s solo comic series intersected with the X-Men storyline X-Manhunt, but now that it’s concluded, her enhancement has made her a marked woman.
In this issue #7 of Storm, penned by Murewa Ayodele, Luciano Vecchio, Alex Guimaraes, Fer Sifuentes-Sujo, and letterer VC’s Travis Lanham, we find Storm and the ex-X-Man Maggot in Brazil, hot on the trail of their target deep within the Amazon rainforest. Their adversary is a green anaconda that has gone berserk due to the side effects of contaminated super-soldier serum, craving mutant flesh. The anaconda attempts to ambush Storm, but Maggot steps in to shield Storm, punching the anaconda away.
In a different wording: The snake retaliates, whipping Maggot with its tail and sending him crashing onto the damp earth. Storm advises Maggot to conserve his energy; he’s yet to fully recover from his battle against Juggernaut in the “Storm” spin-off of “X-Manhunt.” Ororo had to employ her freshly acquired healing powers to mend Maggot after Juggernaut dismembered his arms. Storm pursues the anaconda across the water, and the scene concludes with a tight shot of her face. It seems that Storm transforms into a reptilian form as her eyes and teeth elongate.
“Go to sleep already!” Ororo screams in the final panel of the Storm #7 preview.
This event honors Storm’s 50th anniversary since her initial appearance in issue #1 of Giant-Size X-Men from 1975. Notable thunder deities are expected to attend this celebration, however, there is still a threat present in Brazil.
50 years ago, the remarkable character Storm, initially introduced in GIANT-SIZE X-MEN #1, began her journey, captivating hearts ever since! In celebration of this milestone, her seventh solo issue presents a unique blend of introductions, updates, and appearances by five revered deities of thunder – Thor, Chac, Sango, Mamaragan, and Susanoo! However, before these encounters, an ill-fated mission in Brazil takes a turn for the worse. Can our hero handle any more hardships?
In an interview before the release of Storm #1, ComicBook talked with writer Murewa Ayodele about establishing Storm’s new role. “From her debut, Storm looked after a small village in Kenya. Later, she served as queen for the nation of Wakanda. During the Krakoan era, she assumed responsibility for the planet Arakko (Mars).” Ayodele explained. “Given this background, Storm taking on the duty of protecting Earth is a logical step, stemming not just from the Krakoan Era but also her entire comic book career. With the downfall of Krakoa causing such distress among mutants and potentially threatening their homeworld, Storm is resolved to prevent a repeat of that catastrophe.
