During the Pokemon Go Unova Tour, Niantic introduced a fresh item named the Lucky Trinket. This item was associated with the Go Pass Deluxe, an upgrade to the new Battle Pass-style tasks that were unveiled together with the Go Tour Global event. It appears that both the Go Pass and the Lucky Trinket are not temporary additions, as they have reappeared in Pokemon Go again for April 2025. Given its longevity beyond major Go Tour events, let’s explore what the Lucky Trinket does and how to obtain one.
How to Get the Lucky Trinket in Pokemon Go
In April 2025, the Lucky Charm is up for grabs as the ultimate prize for those who purchase the Go Pass Deluxe. However, it’s essential to note that this item cannot be obtained without purchasing the premium version of the Go Pass and progressing through the entire Deluxe reward track before the pass expires. While some rewards within the Go Pass are accessible to free-to-play users, the Lucky Charm is an exception.
In contrast to the original Go Pass Deluxe, which debuted during Go Tour Unova, the current April version features a reduced number of overall ranks. This reduction makes it somewhat simpler to earn the Lucky Trinket in this updated, seasonal version of the Go Pass compared to its initial release.
As of now, the Go Pass for April 2025 is a trial version restricted to specific regions globally. Users who can access this trial will find it in their Rewards section starting from April 1st, 10 AM local time, and ending on May 6th, 10 AM local time. During the trial phase, the Deluxe reward path for the Go Pass costs $7.99 or its regional equivalent and can be purchased only in areas participating in the April Go Pass test. Once testing is completed and if the Go Pass reappears in subsequent months, changes might occur to the pricing, rewards, and acquisition method of the Lucky Trinket.
What Does the Lucky Trinket Do?
In the game Pokemon Go, there’s a special item called The Lucky Trinket. This unique item, which can be used once, enables you to instantly upgrade one friend from Great Friend status to Lucky Friend. Normally, Best Friends is the requirement for achieving the Lucky status, but with this item, you only need to be at the Great Friend level. When you use the item, both of you will become Lucky Friends instantly. Then, when you trade Pokemon with that friend in the future, the traded Pokemon will automatically become Lucky Pokemon for both parties.
In a situation where both parties have a Lucky Trinket, it’s beneficial to save yours when trading with someone else. This way, you each get a chance to use your trinkets separately, creating two instances of Lucky Friendship.
Similar to its initial launch, the Lucky Charm acquired through the April Go Pass will lose its effectiveness a short while after the associated rewards expire. This year, the Lucky Charm expires on May 11th. Given that Lucky Friend status persists until trading occurs, players who possess a Lucky Charm are advised to utilize it before the expiration date.
I regret to inform you that the Lucky Trinket doesn’t allow for trading Pokémon over long distances. To make a trade, you’ll have to meet up with your Lucky Friend in person instead.
