A year following the blockbuster success of Inside Out 2, which shattered several box office records throughout its release, the cherished animation studio, Pixar, returns with their newest production titled Elio.
The upcoming Pixar film, released after 2023’s Elemental, tells the story of a child with an unusual dream: to be taken by aliens. Remarkably, his wish comes true.
When he’s teleported to the Cosmosphere, he unintentionally gets chosen as Earth’s interstellar emissary. He then has to deal with a predicament while making friends with various extraterrestrial beings.
Previous Pixar movies like “Turning Red” and “Soul” were made available for streaming directly on Disney Plus, enabling audiences to enjoy them from their homes. However, this isn’t the same for “Elio”. So, how can Pixar enthusiasts in the UK catch the film?

Currently, the only way to watch Elio is in cinemas.
The Pixar film was released in cinemas worldwide, including in the UK, on Friday 20th June 2025.
Is Elio streaming on Disney Plus?
At the moment, you won’t find Elio streaming on Disney Plus. However, like other Pixar movies, it’s anticipated to be available for streaming eventually – just not until it has finished its run in cinemas first.
In the realm of animated films, I found myself captivated by none other than Pixar’s latest masterpiece, “Inside Out 2,” which graced the big screen in June 2024 before making its way onto Disney Plus in September.
If Elio adopts a comparable release schedule, we anticipate its arrival on the streaming platform around September 2025, but it’s important to note that this timeline hasn’t been officially announced as of now.
What is Elio about?
In the new Pixar movie titled ‘Elio’, we find out what happens when the thing you’ve been looking for finds you instead. Elio, who loves everything about aliens, gets the chance to explore this idea firsthand as he is whisked away to the Communiverse, an enchanting cosmic wonderland inhabited by intelligent beings from all corners of the universe.
However, if he’s misconstrued as the ruler of Earth, he’ll find himself creating unforeseen connections, managing a catastrophe of cosmic dimensions, and ensuring he doesn’t miss the chance to realize his utmost aspiration.
The film stars a voice cast led by Sweet Tooth’s Yonas Kibreab and Avengers: Endgame’s Zoe Saldaña.
