I have had the privilege of following the incredible journey of Simone Biles and her best friend Jordan Chiles as they made history in the world of gymnastics. Their unbreakable bond and mutual support have been a source of inspiration for me, especially during their time at the Tokyo Olympics.

Since being assigned as teammates for the 2018 World Championship trials, the US Olympic gymnasts have stood by each other’s side throughout their journey to Paris 2024.
Instead, it was Simone who persuaded Jordan not to quit. At that time, Jordan, who was 23 years old, had missed making the Worlds team. Feeling disheartened, she considered leaving gymnastics behind for good. However, thanks to Simone’s encouragement, she continued her journey in this sport.
“Jordan recollected thinking, ‘It seems my time with this sport is wrapping up, as nothing has been going well for me whatsoever,’ during a chat with The New York Times. I merely wanted to graduate from high school and commence college. Yet, I had a heart-to-heart with Simone.'”
Following the motivating speech, Jordan shifted gears and adopted a fresh training regimen by teaming up with Simone at her loved ones’ World Championship Centre in Texas. Unaware of it then, she was set to participate in numerous Olympic competitions.
At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, it wasn’t just Simone who stood by her best friend during a difficult moment. When Simone was forced to withdraw from the gymnastics team final due to “the twisties,” Jordan took over on both the balance beam and uneven bars for her. Furthermore, she spoke up in support of Simone amidst criticisms from the media.
Jordan expressed on Peace of Mind with Taraji in 2021 that there were various feelings present, including emotion, excitement, frustration, and devastation.
After the Tokyo games, Simone decided to pause her competitive career, but Jordan continued to be her most devoted fan. He expressed the loveliest response upon learning about Simone’s engagement news.
She expressed to TopMob News in March 2022, around a year before her wedding to Jonathan Owens, that she frequently checked in on her friend and held her in the highest regard. “She is an essential part of my life, come rain or shine,” she added with great anticipation for their future together.

With identical hats on their heads, these cowgirls stood next to each other at the US Gymnastics Championships, having been selected for the US National Gymnastics team.

After an Ohioan chose not to compete in the finals, Jordan shared a picture of them together on Instagram, accompanied by a heartfelt message of encouragement.

The duo had a conversation with Hoda Kotb on Today, joined by their teammates Grace McCallum, Sunisa Lee, and MyKayla Skinner, all of whom returned from Tokyo with at least one medal each.
I, as an eager and devoted fan, was thrilled beyond belief when I heard the news that my idol, Simone, was making her comeback to gymnastics competition in August of 2023. It had been far too long since the Tokyo Olympics, and I couldn’t wait to see her grace and power once again on the mat.
Luckily, she had her best friend by her side every step of the way.
Following my heart-pounding, breathtaking performance on the floor at the 2023 U.S. Championships, I was greeted by a thunderous applause from the audience and a heartwarming hug from Jordan and my dedicated team.
During their preparations for the 2024 Core Hydration Classic, which marked Simone’s return to gymnastics competitions in 2024, Jordan and Simone shared plenty of lighthearted moments and laughter.
At the Xfinity Championships leading up to the 2024 Paris Olympics, Simone and Jordan finished in the top spots on the uneven bars. Specifically, Simone came in first, while Jordan secured the second position.
During a heartfelt interaction, the top-tier pals discovered they’d be teaming up once more to compete for the USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics, joining Suni – a fellow Tokyo 2020 participant.
